Home to the Dallas Mavericks, the American Airlines Center is the main structure of the 72-acre Victory Park development located in Dallas, Texas. Victory Park is the one of the largest Environmental Protection Agency brownfield projects in the United States. A Mavs game is the perfect way to spend the day with your friends or family.
Victory Park is also the home to a television station and good eats. Also the home of the Dallas Stars ice hockey team, the floor is a retractable system and is designed to save time and energy when it is time to change from basketball to ice hockey. Offering over 21,000 seats for basketball and more than 18,500 for ice hockey games, American Airlines Center features nearly 150 luxury suites and approximately 1600 club seats.
Opening on July 27, 2001, the first event occurred the next day with an Eagles concert. The next night the arena hosted the last show of Michael Flatley's Feet of Flames tour. The first sporting event took place on August 19, 2001 with the Dallas Sidekicks of the World Indoor Soccer League taking on the San Diego Sockers.
Built from granite, limestone and brick the outside, there are four entrances that are located on every side of the venue. Balconies at the Platinum Lever adorn the south and north ends that provide great views of downtown and the public plaza below.
Supported solely by four corners, the 150,000 square foot roof houses a seating bowl. Columns are connected at the corners with still rods that are located within the floor of the upper concourse.
All concourses have terrazzo flooring. With windows lining the outer walls of the five concourses and wide-open areas, fans have an area in which they can congregate before and after the game to converse and party. As for the Lobby, it offers views of downtown skyline. The Design District can be seen from the North Lobby while the East and West Lobbies provide views of Uptown and main freeway.
Parking lots open two hours prior to the start of each event and remain open until two hours after the end of each event. Overnight parking and "in and out" privileges are not permitted. For Mavericks games, there is cash parking in the Red lots. Other parking operators have lots to the East along Field St. and to the South throughout the West End.
