2014 Season

Evita was selected to reopen the stunning Dominion Theater this fall. Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice’s classic Tony Award-winning musical, Evita, is on tour this year, direct from Broadway! The musical is a political romance that tracks the true-life rise and fall of Eva Perón, Argentine political leader and wife to president Juan Perón. In her remarkable journey, Eva was wholly beloved by the people, but while her charisma and beauty propelled her from rags to riches, her ambition and greed tore her from the top. The musical served as inspiration for the 1996 film of the same name featuring Antonio Banderas and Madonna, and its passion resonates even more when live on-stage. After all, Evita is the first British musical of our time to win both the Laurence Olivier and Tony Award for Best Musical. This revival features a larger cast and packs a more Latin flavor—from fiery tango choreography to the beautiful Spanish guitar and unforgettable costumes. You wont want to miss hearing “Don’t Cry for me Argentina” when Evita comes to town!

Broadway gems, Caroline Bowman, Josh Young, and Sean MacLaughlin are leading the way, with their highly acclaimed emulation of the biggest Argentine figures of the 1920s. They sing, act, and dance with fervor to enliven a supremely tumultuous period in history. The tour launched in September of this year, and is currently amid its Los Angeles stint, but Evita will soon be gracing a stage near you, as Denver, Tampa, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Seattle and Houston are among the plethora of stops for this powerhouse musical!
