Auto Club 400 News and Updates

The Auto Club 400 is one of the top NASCAR races to attend in the Sprint Cup Series. The race is held annually in Fontana and always features the best in the sport burning rubber under the hot Southern California sun. The Auto Club 400 is lucky to have the US Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, perform a flyover at the start of the race—the only sporting event flyover scheduled for the pride of the Navy and Marines’ this year. Auto Club 400 tickets are currently averaging $105, but you can get-into this event for just $56 in the Lower Center & Club seating.

Last year’s Auto Club 400 had everyone in the world of NASCAR talking. Denny Hamlin crashed after Joey Logano reportedly forced him into the inside wall as an act of revenge. Hamlin left the track in an ambulance with a fractured spine, and Tony Stewart got into a fist-fight with Logano after being frustrated by his blocked restart. In the midst of all the commotion, Kyle Busch took the checkered flag to seal his 25th NASCAR victory and put an end to a 31-race drought. Jimmie Johnson has taken the trophy twice, while Jeff Gordon and Matt Kensetch have three wins apiece from Fontana.

With the new Chase rules points overhaul, a win at the Auto Club 400 has never been more important. This season debuts the new Sprint Cup Series format, where each race winner will automatically get a bid into Chase field, meaning a win in Fontana will (barring a tie-break) get the driver into the postseason. Now, 16 drivers will qualify (15 race winners and one points leader) for the 10-race Chase. The new playoff-feel arrangement will feature four rounds composed of three three-race segments and one season finale, where four drivers will be eliminated after each round. Finally, at Homestead-Miami, the winning driver out of the four remaining will take the Sprint Cup Series championship.
