Washington Capitals Tickets

The Washington Capitals head into the new NHL season with a team that looks wonderfully similar to what they had last year. Team captain Alex Ovechkin led the Caps to the top of the Metro Division last season, and fans are thrilled he’s back and playing alongside talent like Karl Alzner, Dmitry Orlov, and Braden Holtby. Coming off the high of winning the Presidents’ Trophy and the low of losing to the Penguins in the second round of the playoffs last season, the Caps are ready for another great run. The Washington Capitals play at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., and with more than 40 home games on the schedule there are plenty of chances to see them in action!

Washington Capitals News

The Washington Capitals haven’t had to deal with much losing this season, so the team might have been a little shell-shocked after falling 3-0 to the Ottawa Senators. The usually potent Capitals offense had no success against Ottawa goalie Mike Condon, as Condon was able to stop an impressive 31 shots in the shutout. This was a showdown between two teams that could very well face off in the postseason, and Washington fans are hoping the outcome will be different if that happens. The Capitals will face another worthy opponent on February 1 when the Boston Bruins come to town. Tickets for that game are available starting as low as $29.

The Washington Capitals are doing good work on holding tight to the number two spot in the Metropolitan division. They have won their last seven games in a row, starting 2017 off just the way they wanted to. On Wednesday, the Capitals played against the Pittsburgh Penguins at home at the Verizon Center. It was a big night for Alex Overchkin for the Capitals because he collected his 1,000 NHL point when he slammed a goal home during the first 35 seconds of the game. This paved the way for the rest of the evening, putting the Capitals over the Penguins, 5-2. See if they can keep up the good work when you purchase your tickets for the next game against Philadelphia Flyers.

After losing two in a row, the Washington Capitals found their groove and shutout the Lightning on December 23. Goalie Braden Holtby had 23 saves and had his third shutout of the season. John Carlson scored two goals in the first period, and then Alex Ovechkin and Marcus Johansson added two more goals for the win. However, they were unable to keep the momentum when they fell by a point to the Islanders on December 27. The Capitals worked hard to stay in the game, but they were unable to get the victory. They have a home-home series against the Devils on December 28 and 31, and then they host the Senators on January 1. There is still time to get your tickets, with prices starting at $19.

The Washington Capitals skated to victory against the New York Islanders on December 13. However, the Capitals got off to a late start in the first period as they trailed the Islanders, 0-1 to begin the second period. They were able to pull together some great offensive plays during the second period to give them two goals and to tie up the game. The third period brought some unexpected and exciting goals. Matt Niskanen, for the Capitals, is a strong defensemen, but he was put into the spotlight when he scored two goals during the third and final period, lifting the Capitals over the Islanders. See the Capitals play again on December 17 when you purchase your tickets today.

The Washington Capitals are in a tight race in the NHL Metropolitan standings. They currently hold the second place seed, but Pittsburgh is following closely behind them with only one additional loss. In order for the Capitals to hold on to their position, they are going to need to keep adding wins to their records and keep the losses to a minimum. Unfortunately, on November 26 the Nationals suffered from a loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs up in Canada. The Maple Leafs were able to keep the Capitals at bay all game until the third period when the Capitals scored two points. However, it wasn’t enough to take home the win. Get your tickets today to catch them live.

After falling to the Blue Jackets 1-2 in overtime on the 15, the Washington Capitals came out the next night to beat the Penguins 7-1 at home. Washington started off strong, nabbing three points in the first period thanks to two goals from T.J. Oshie and one from Nicklas Backstrom. They continued to dominate with a goal from Dmitry Orlov in the second and goals from Justin Williams, Alex Ovechkin and Phil Kessel in the third period. The Penguins finally scored late in the third period, but the Capitals had already secured their victory. The Capitals host the Red Wings, Blue Jackets and Blues on the 18, 20 and 23 respectively. You can still get tickets for prices starting at $32.

The Washington Capitals appeared to be in cruise control when playing against the Winnipeg Jets on November 1. The Capitals scored in each of the first two periods while holding the Jets scoreless in those frames, but then quickly collapsed in the third period by allowing two straight Winnipeg scores, knotting the game at 2-2. It looked as though overtime was inevitable, but with just 30 seconds left in regulation, Jay Beagle found the back of the Jet’s net and gave the Capitals a 3-2 victory. Washington is about to head out on a multi-game road trip but will be back to host the Pittsburgh Penguins on November 16. Tickets for that game start at just $38.

This year, the Washington Capitals will have a new leader for training camp, which begins in just a few weeks. The team recently promoted Todd Reirden, who has served as an assistant coach for the past two seasons, to associate coach. With Coach Barry Trotz away at the World Cup of Hockey, Reirden will lead training camp. The team is still waiting for a deal to be signed with Dmitry Orlov, who is the only restricted free agent yet to find a deal. The team is optimistic that a deal will be signed in time for the season's start, hopefully sooner. Preseason commences on September 26 with a game at home against the Hurricanes. You can still get your tickets for prices starting at $5.
