Vancouver Canucks News

It’s been a bumpy ride so far this season for the Vancouver Canucks, but a pair of wins this week has the team and fans feeling a little bit better. Rated at No. 28 in last week’s power rankings, the victories over Colorado and Minnesota have bumped them up two spots to No. 26 in the NHL. Although they’re sitting at the bottom of the pack in the rankings, Vancouver will have a chance to continue their rising trend when they take on the Anaheim Ducks this Thursday, Dec. 1 at Rogers Arena. The Canucks will continue the home stretch Saturday, Dec. 3, against Toronto. Tickets for both games can be purchased today for just $22 and up.

Any hope the Vancouver Canucks had of beating the red-hot New York Rangers vanished well before the third period when the two teams played on November 15. The game was scoreless for most of the early going but then quickly unraveled for the Canucks when NY scored a late first period goal and then two more in the second. The Rangers took a 3-1 lead into the final period and went on to win the game 7-2. The Canucks will head off to play a few road games before returning home to host a strong Minnesota Wild team on November 29. Tickets for that matchup are available starting as low as $18.

After starting the season off so well, the Vancouver Canucks couldn’t close out October with a win as the team fell to the Washington Capitals on October 29 by a final of 5-2. Having been shutout in the previous two games, the Canucks were at least happy to get on the board with goals from Jannik Hansen and Bo Hovart, but the shaky Vancouver defense made any offensive success obsolete. The season is still young so there’s plenty of time for the Canucks to figure out what’s gone wrong and try to fix those issues. After a string of road games Vancouver will be back at home to face the Dallas Stars on November 13, with tickets starting as low as $34.

In a battle of undefeated teams on October 18, the Vancouver Canucks managed to escape with a win over the St. Louis Blues and keep the team’s perfect record intact. It took some late-game heroics in order to get that win, as the Blues held the Canucks scoreless for almost the entire game. Bo Hovart managed to score the team’s first goal at the end of the third period and then Henrik Sedin sealed the deal with the game-winning score in overtime. The Canucks’ wins haven’t all been pretty, but they’ve been wins nonetheless. The team will try to stay perfect when it hosts the Edmonton Oilers on October 28. Tickets start as low as $42.

The Vancouver Canucks are coming to the end of their offseason, with training camp just a few weeks away. They recently released their prospect depth chart. There is a lot of promise in Brock Boeser, Thatcher Demko and Olli Juolevi, but there might not be much more promise beyond those three. Corey Pronman from ESPN ranked the Canucks 13th in his latest prospect rankings. There are some rumors that there might be some trading going on, especially for a scoring left winger, in the final weeks prior to the start of the season to help them improve and make it to the playoffs this year. The first preseason game will be in San Jose against the Sharks. Tickets are still available starting at $15.
