With a 26-23-6 record heading into its Feb. 9 game with San Jose, the Boston Bruins sit in fourth place in the Atlantic Division. The Bruins have 58 points, just two points from being tied for second with Ottawa and Toronto. The Bruins began February by losing a pair of close games. Boston fell at Washington 5-3 on Feb. 1 and then lost to Toronto 6-5 on Feb. 4. Brad Marchand scored two of Boston’s goals against Washington, giving him 23 on the season. David Krejci scored the team’s other goal. Three nights later, David Pastrnak scored twice against Toronto, but it wasn’t enough to get the victory. The Bruins host Monteal on Sunday.

The Boston Bruins beat the Flyers on Saturday, January 14. Unfortunately, after this win, they lost to the Islanders 4-0 and then fell to the Red Wings in a shootout on January 18. In the game against the Red Wings, the Burins got on the board first for an early lead, closing out the first period ahead 4-1. Then, the Red Wings rallied, sending the game to overtime. The Bruins will look to get a win when they play the Blackhawks on January 20. Then, they head to Pittsburgh to the play the Penguins on the 22 before coming back home to host the Red Wings on the 24 and the Penguins on the 26. It’s a sad time for the Boston Bruins and fans alike, as they said goodbye to the legendary Milt Schmidt this week. The former player passed away on Wednesday at the age of 98. He was known for his unwavering pride in his team among many contributions to the sport. This news comes on the heels of a terrible loss against the New Jersey Devils on Monday night. Boston did not just lose they game; they were shut out completely. The home team dominated the match and came away with the victory 3-0. The Bruins will try to hold their spirits together Thursday night, when they host the Edmonton Oilers. Tickets are $94.

In the last eight games that the Boston Bruins have played, three of them have gone into overtime. The Bruins have been able to pull off one win during those overtime games, but overall they are having a hard time finishing teams off or coming back from being behind. After beating the Jets 4-1 on November 19, the Boston Bruins lost their next two games against the Blues and Senators respectively. Against the Jets, the defense was strong and held the Jets to just 12 shots on goal, a season low for shots allowed. After a scoreless first period, Matt Beleskey, Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron all scored to give the Bruins a strong lead. Tim Schaller added another one in the fourth, and the Jets got one sole goal late in the game. The Boston Bruins are now ranked fifth in the Atlantic Davison after losing to the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. It was a tough loss for a team that is still struggling to get any momentum going. The Canadiens ultimately took home the win 3 - 2 on home turf. Now, the Bruins will shore themselves up for a weeklong road trip.
