Washington State Cougars Football News
After opening the season with two losses, including one to FCS opponent Eastern Washington, the Washington State Cougars football team is surging as the season hits the stretch run. The Cougars are 8-2 and sit atop the Pac-12 North Division with a 7-0 mark. Head coach Mike Leach’s squad is gunning for an undefeated conference season, a feat no Pac-12 team has achieved since the conference expanded to 12 teams in 2011.
This weekend, the Cougars travel to Boulder, Colorado, to take on the Colorado Buffaloes, themselves an upstart team, currently leading the South Division. Regardless of what happens Saturday, the season is setting up for an Apple Cup showdown with the Washington Huskies to determine who plays for the Pac-12 title.
In his first year as a starter, Luke Falk lead this Washington State Cougars football team to the best season it’s had in 10 years. Now Luke has more experience and will be leading one of the most explosive offensive units in the country. The Cougars have more depth at the running back position than many Pac-12 fans are aware of, and there’s no question that this squad will be able to put points on the board. The question becomes whether or not Washington State can stop opposing offenses, and the real test will be when the Oregon Ducks come to town on October 1. Tickets for that game start as low as $71.
