Orange Bowl News and Updates
The Clemson Tigers are anything but strangers to being part of the Orange Bowl, with three such appearances over the last five years alone. Their latest trip—in 2014 against the Ohio State Buckeyes—resulted in a 40-35 win, erasing the memory of their crushing 70-33 defeat at the hands of West Virginia’s Mountaineers two seasons earlier. Even more rides on their 2015 appearance, as a victory over the favored Sooners would catapult them into the Final Round of the second College Football Playoff Tournament. Do the Tigers have what it takes to run the train all the way to the end of the line? Get your Orange Bowl tickets today from $57 and find out firsthand!

12/30/14 - One of the most anticipated bowl games this year is the Orange Bowl, which features a great game between Georgia Tech and Mississippi State. Both of these teams have done some great things this season, making this match up even more intriguing. For Mississippi State, Dak Prescott has done a lot of incredible things. He was a Heisman candidate for much of this season, and is one of the nation’s top quarterbacks. He can do it all, from breaking tackles to throwing the deep ball. He will need to look sharp if his team wants to come away with the win. For Georgia Tech, Justin Thomas is a key player to watch. He can throw the deep ball better than almost anyone in college football, so big plays are bound to happen if he and his offense can click. Tickets for this game can be bought now for a low $1.
12/22/14 - One of the most interesting bowl games this year is the Orange Bowl, which features a fantastic matchup between Mississippi State and Georgia Tech. This is an explosive game that pits two of the most dynamic offensive teams in the nation. In order for Mississippi State to come away with the win, they need Dak Prescott to make smart plays down the stretch. He’s a very dynamic quarterback, who can scramble if the openings present themselves. Much like the Bulldogs, Georgia Tech will need their quarterback Justin Thomas to limit his turnovers. They also need their running game to start off strong in order for them to control the clock. Zach Laskey can certainly help out with the running cause, as he’s one of the top running backs in the ACC division. Tickets can be bought now for a low $2.
12/17/14 - Mississippi State (10-2) prepares to face Georgia Tech (10-3) in the 2014 Orange Bowl on December 31 at Sun Life Stadium in South Florida. The SEC vs. ACC showdown features a seventh-ranked SEC Mississippi State Bulldogs team that boasts the first 10-win regular season in school history. Mississippi State ranks 5th in the nation in total offense, with 506.2 yards per game, and 10th in scoring defense (37.2 ppg). The Bulldogs will face a 12th-ranked ACC Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets' offense that finished the season third in the nation in rushing yards, averaging 333.6 yards per game in the regular season. This year marks Georgia Tech's seventh Orange Bowl appearance, while Mississippi State will be making its first visit since 1941. Tickets at all price ranges are on sale now.
12/7/14 - Mississippi State didn't lose until November 15th at top-ranked Alabama, and its only other loss came on the road at in-state rival Ole Miss. The Orange Bowl is always one of the most thrilling post-season games of the year, and under the new College Football Playoff field, more excitement will stir around Miami Gardens than ever. As a member of the “New Years Six” postseason bowl games, the Orange Bowl is no longer held to just hosting the ACC Champions. SunLife Stadium will instead host a semifinal game every three years, and major NCAA match-up figuring the ACC, B1G or SEC conferences in off-seasons, as determined by a 13-person College Football Selection Committee.
The inaugural 2015 CFP has selected the Rose and Cotton Bowl to host the top four-ranked teams, while the Orange Bowl has scored a 2016 playoff slot. The 2015 Orange Bowl game will play out on New Years Eve, in a Dec. 31 triple-header alongside the Fiesta and Peach Bowls. Florida’s Orange Bowl sprang up in response to the Rose Bowl game and Tournament of Roses Parade, which displays Los Angeles’ gorgeous weather in the midst of winter. Florida boasts similar beauty that time of year, so Miami responded with the Palm Festival, adding an American football game to heighten popularity. Although there is no longer a festival, the Orange Bowl has annually showcased paramount teams from across the country since 1935, and is among the oldest college bowl games in history. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to be at Sun Life Stadium when the best of the best duke it out in Southern Florida this year!
