Tampa Bay Rays News

The Tampa Bay Rays are off to a rocky start to their season. They only have two wins in seven games and have fallen to fourth place in the American League East. The team’s current series against the Kansas City Royals is only causing more damage, as the visitors have already won two out of four matches. Tuesday’s defeat was particularly devastating, as Tampa Bay gave up a run in the twelfth inning to lose 6-7. After the Royals are finished with them, the Rays will head to Boston to take on the Red Sox. They return to Tropicana Field Friday, May 19 to host the Yankees. Tickets are available for $23.

In an April 18 matchup of the Tampa Bay Rays and the Detroit Tigers, Matt Andriese started things off by serving up a home run ball to Miguel Cabrera. While that’s something that would rattle most pitchers, it seemed to settle Andriese. The young pitcher went on to throw nearly seven innings without giving up another run. The rest of the team backed him with plenty of offense, including a two-run homer from Tim Beckham, and the Rays went on to win by a final of 5-1. Tampa Bay will head out on a short road trip to close out April before returning home to play the Miami Marlins on May 3. Tickets start at $22.
