Pittsburgh Pirates News

Just when things were starting to look promising for the Pittsburgh Pirates, they go and blow back-to-back games against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. Each loss was painful in its own way. On Monday, the Dodgers absolutely demolished the home team with a 12-1 blowout. Then, the following day, Los Angeles locked them into a defensive battle and forced the game into extra innings. There, the Dodgers took the 4-3 victory. The Pirates will look to regroup for their next series against the Washington Nationals, which starts Tuesday, May 16 at PNC Park. Tickets to that game are currently on sale and available for prices starting as low as $10.

Looking at the hits column from the April 18 game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals, it would appear that Pittsburgh came out ahead. Unfortunately, the score column tells a different story. The Pirates racked up 11 hits on the day, but only one of those turned into a player crossing the plate. Meanwhile, using only four hits, the Cardinals were able to bring a pair of runs in to score and held on to win the game 2-1. Pittsburgh can’t dwell on this loss, as the Chicago Cubs are coming to town for a three-game set. The third game will be on April 26, and tickets are available starting at $13.
