Oakland Athletics News

To the dismay of fans everywhere, the Oakland Athletics ended their three-game winning streak on Tuesday evening. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim made the trip north to take on the similarly-ranked A’s. Unfortunately for the home team and crowd, the visitors got a lightning-hot start with five runs scored by the end of the second inning. That effort was enough to seize the 7-3 victory, as Oakland was unable to keep pace. The A’s will now hit the road to play the Texas Rangers before returning to Coliseum for a clash with the Boston Red Sox starting May 18. Tickets to that game are available for $19 and up.

As the Oakland Athletics try to climb the ranks in the AL West, it’s looking like pitcher Andrew Triggs is going to be a big part of that equation. After pitching six innings in a 4-2 victory over the Rangers on April 18, Triggs has now thrown over 17 innings to open the season without giving up an earned run. While Texas managed to get two unearned runs on the board, Oakland closer Santiago Casilla had no trouble shutting the door in the ninth inning and preserving the victory. The A’s will finish up the month on the road before returning home for a set against the Detroit Tigers starting on May 5. Tickets for the first game start as low as $13.
