In an organization like the New York Yankees, anything less than playing in the postseason is a disappointment. This season, however, that goal is in jeopardy, in large part due to an extremely competitive division. As of Sept. 8, the Yankees were in fourth place in the AL East, sporting a 74-65 record.
However, the fourth sport isn’t as bad as it sounds, not with the division’s top three teams sitting just one, two and four games ahead of the Yankees.
The Yankees are feeling the heat and have responded well in September. New York won five straight games Sept. 4–8, all by two runs or less. The Yankees next host the Los Angeles Dodgers Sept. 12–14.
