The New York Mets may have already locked up their appearance in the 2016 MLB Playoffs, but they certainly aren’t acting like they’re on top. After just winning a three-game sweep against the visiting Minnesota Twins, the Mets followed up their impressive victories with three back-to-back losses against the Atlanta Braves. Two of those losses were particularly brutal, as they were determined by just one run. Come cheer New York on as they close out their regular season this weekend. They will take on the Philadelphia Phillies in a final four-game clash. Tickets to the game on Saturday, September 24 are currently on sale and available for $16 and up.

Everything was going the New York Mets way when they started the month of September. They won their first five games in a row and finally took a loss against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday. They were able to come back from that loss and defeat the Braves the very next day, 10-3. Unfortunately, the winning didn’t continue when they started their four-game series against the Washington Nationals. On Monday night, the Nationals took it to the Mets, beating them 8-1. The Nationals started the game out strong, scoring all eight of their runs in the first four innings. See if the Mets can recover when they play the Nationals again on September 14. Technically speaking, the New York Mets are still in the hunt for a berth in the MLB playoffs, but the team from the Big Apple has a lot of work to do. Plus, the Mets will need some teams in front of them to slip up. As of Sept. 8, New York was in second place in the NL East with a 74-66 record. The Mets were a full eight games behind division leader Washington at this point, meaning the team had better hope a long winning streak is in store if it can even hope for a possible playoff run. The Mets won five straight games Sept. 3–7 to help with this effort. New York next faces Washington Sept. 12–14.

Usually when you think about a New York baseball team known for making it to the playoffs, you think of the Yankees. This year, we may all be talking about the New York Mets. The team is currently second in the National League East, putting them in a great position to make the postseason next month. In fact, the Mets made a big statement this week when they swept the visiting Miami Marlins, all but dashing the visitors’ hopes of their own run for the World Series. Now, New York will shift attention to the Washington Nationals. Catch the two playoff contenders in action tomorrow through Sunday. Tickets are $5 and up.

The New York Mets are working hard to climb the NL East ladder this season. Currently they are sitting in second place and falling only one game behind the first place team, the Nationals. This week the Mets happen to be playing against the Nationals, which are their biggest competition thus far. The first game of the three-game series was held on May 17 and the Mets were able to come away with the win. This game not only helped the Mets creep up further to the number one spot, but it was huge because it ended their four game losing streak. See if they can keep up the good work when they play the Nationals again on May 18.

After a red-hot stretch from April 17–30 where they went 11-1, the New York Mets have cooled off a bit. Still, the Mets ended a May 4 series with Atlanta with a 17-9 record, good enough for second place in the National League East. The Mets hope the road is kind to them, as they embarked on an 11-day, 11-game trip to San Diego, Los Angeles, and Colorado before finally getting back home to face the Washington Nationals on May 17. Tickets are available started at $15. The Mets and Nationals square off May 18 and 19 as well. New York then hosts Milwaukee May 20, 21, and 22.

Following a run for the World Series title in 2015, the New York Mets have started this season somewhat flat. With four losses in a row, the Mets haven’t won since their home opening on Thursday when they beat the Phillies 7-2. The rest of the series went poorly, as did the beginning of the run against Marlins early this week. After a day off Thursday, the Mets are hoping to regain some footing in Cleveland this weekend. They’ll continue the road trip in Philly early next week before returning home against the Reds April 25-27. Despite the disappointing start, there’s still a lot of ball left to be played.
