It’s been a challenging year for the Colorado Rockies. While the team has certainly had its strong moments, reaching the MLB playoffs seems to be quickly dwindling prospect. After its 6-5 win over San Francisco on Sept. 7, Colorado’s record was 67-72, third place in the National League West. Like the season as a whole, September started off in up-and-down fashion for the Rockies. Colorado was 3-3 in its first six games of the month. Colorado went 1-2 against Arizona and 2-1 against San Francisco during this span. The Rockies next travel to square off with Arizona for three games, Sept. 12–14. Colorado returns home to face San Diego on Sept. 16–18.

The Rockies may be long shots to make the playoffs next month, but they are certainly having a good time ruining other teams’ World Series dreams along the way. They recently won a series against the top-rated Chicago Cubs, and now have put an exclamation point on their August record by winning two of three matches against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. Colorado would have had the sweep last night, if they had managed to avoid giving up five runs in the top of the ninth inning. Will the Rockies make it to postseason after all? The Colorado Rockies are struggling to get to .500, and last week didn’t help get the team over the hump. The Rockies sat at 60-67 as of Aug. 24, a mark that leaves them in third place in the NL West. Colorado dropped four of five games from Aug. 20–25, starting with a 9-2 decision against the Chicago Cubs and ending with a trio of consecutive losses to Milwaukee. The Rockies did earn an 11-4 win over the Cubs on Aug. 21. Nolan Arenado came up huge for his team by blasting two home runs in the victory. Colorado hosts the LA Dodgers Aug. 29–31. The Colorado Rockies have won their past two games, taking the series against the Nationals 2-1. In game 2, the Nationals had an early lead, but the Rockies quickly tied the game and did not let the Nationals get any more, winning 6-2. In game 3, the Rockies came out swinging. After winning four in a row, the Colorado Rockies lost a close one against the Orioles on July 25. The two teams were tied 2-2, forcing the game into a tenth inning. The Rockies will be looking to get back to their winning ways when they play the Orioles twice more on the 26 and 27. Then, they head to New York to play the Mets starting on the 28. The game on the 22 was postponed, and the teams played again on the 23. However, the Rockies were unable to get another victory in the series, losing the series 1-2. It’s hard to be a fan of the Colorado Rockies this year, particularly when they are playing at home in Denver, CO. Although Trevor Story and the rest of the team look strong on the road, they just can’t seem to get any steam going at home. Last night, they played the Arizona Diamondbacks at Coors Field. The teams were locked in a stalemate until the fourth inning, when the Diamondbacks suddenly scored four runs. The Rockies were never able to catch up, ultimately losing the game 1-5.
