Cincinnati Reds News

The Cincinnati Reds won their first of three games against the Giants on July 25. The team had a total of three two-run homers to help lead them to victory, and Jay Bruce had two of them. The Reds' big inning was the fourth, during which Bruce and Eugenio Suarez had two-run homers. The Giants got ahead in the fifth, but then Bruce had his second two-run homer to get the Reds back ahead. Suarez scored an extra run to ensure the victory off of a single from Billy Hamilton in the ninth. The two teams play again on the 26 and 27, then the Reds head to San Diego to play the Padres. Tickets remain available, with prices starting at $21.

The Cincinnati Reds fought valiantly but were unable to get a win in their latest three game series against the Marlins. In the first game, the Marlins were ahead by one until the Reds equalized in the fourth. However, the Marlins were able to get two more runs in subsequent innings to take back the lead. The next night, the Reds managed to get ahead 2-1, until the Marlins scored two in the fifth to get ahead. It was a similar story in game 3, with the Reds ahead early and then giving the game away in later innings. The Reds have a few days to recoup during the All Star break and then host the Brewers on the 15th. Tickets are available for $5 and up.

The Cincinnati Reds stopped the Padres from sweeping their most recent four game series. After losing the first three, the Reds shut out the Padres to win 3-0. Anthony DeSclafani was on the mound for eight innings and only let the Padres get five hits. He also had five strikeouts. Jay Bruce got his 17th home run during the fourth inning. Tucker Barnhart and DeSclafani both had single RBIs to help the team out. Unfortunately, the Reds were unable to take this momentum with them when they played the Cubs in the first of three games on the 27. They battled it out but lost 11-8. The two teams play again on the 28 and 29, and you can still get tickets for $34.

The Cincinnati Reds split their four game series against the Braves. They won the first two games, but then the Braves took the last two. The first game was close, with the teams tied 8-8 going into the ninth inning. The Reds scored a run and were able to hold the Braves to win. In the second game, the Reds scored three runs in the first inning and held on to their lead, only allowing the Braves to get one run. The third game went into extra innings. In the 13th inning, the Reds scored two to get ahead, but then the Braves scored three to win. The Reds next play the Astros starting on June 17. Tickets are still available for prices starting at $67.

The Cincinnati Reds need to break their current seven game losing streak. In their latest three game series against the Mariners, the Reds looked as though they might win the last game. A double from Brandon Phillips brought in two runs and got Joey Votto to scoring position. He scored off of a sacrifice fly from Jay Bruce to get an early 3-0 lead for the Reds. They got another run in the bottom of the fourth for a 4-2 lead. However, the Mariners scored three runs in the fifth to take the game. The Reds next play the Dodgers in Los Angeles for a three game series starting on May 23. You can still get tickets for $1 and up.

The Cincinnati Reds are wrapping up a long stint at home at Great American Ball Park before they embark on their next road trip. This week, they are hosting the Pittsburgh Pirates. On Monday, the Reds looked strong as they edged out Pittsburgh, winning the game 3-2. The teams had been tied heading into the sixth inning, however Cincinnati was able to tack on the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Poor weather forced the teams to postpone yesterday’s scheduled game, but they should be raring and ready to go for tonight’s matchup. Tickets are currently available for prices starting as low as $4. Don’t miss it!

While the Cincinnati Reds had a strong beginning to the season, they have been struggling more recently. Their season record is sitting at 9-12 right now, which puts them in fourth for the National League Central. The leaders, the Chicago Cubs, have 15 wins, meaning the Reds have some catching up to do. Their best opportunity to turn things around will come on May 2nd when they return to Cincinnati for three full home sets against the San Francisco Giants, Milwaukee Brewers, and Pittsburgh Pirates. There are plenty of upcoming opportunities to catch the Reds in action, so get your tickets, come out, and show your support by cheering them to their next victory.

The Cincinnati Reds finished their last week of Spring Training games strong. They won six of their seven games from March 26-31. They beat the White Sox twice, the Dodgers, the Brewers twice, and split 1-1 with the Indians. They play an exhibition game against the Pirates in Indianapolis on April 2 to help tune them up for their Home Opener against the Phillies on April 4. Raisel Iglesias is set to be the season opener on the mound due to Anthony DeSclafani being on the injured list. They have two other games against the Phillies in the series on April 6 and 7. You can still get tickets to catch the action in person, with prices for the home opener set at $42.

The Cincinnati Reds have added Alfred Simon to the bullpen, which will have several starters still on the injured list when the regular season begins. John Lamb and Homer Bailey had offseason surgeries and are still recovering, while Michael Lorenzen experienced a UCL sprain this week. The management looked to add Simon to help add some more experience rather than having to rely too much on young players. Simon was previously with the Reds and spent some time with the Detroit Tigers as well. The Reds won their latest Spring Training win, with homers from Jay Bruce, Scott Schebler and Devin Mesoraco. They play the Brewers next on March 18, and you can still get tickets for $19 and up.
