Thanks to three home runs and a scoreless start from Rookie Davis, the Cincinnati Reds beat the Pirates 7-2 Wednesday, moving ahead in the series 2-1 with the last game scheduled for Thursday, May 4. Two three-run homers secured the victory for the Reds, one from Billy Hamilton, who broke his 319-homerless streak on a 100-mph fastball from Jameson Tallion. Davis also helped Cincinnati with a perfect first inning, his second as a MLB professional. He played five scoreless innings, walking three, striking out two and allowing four hits. The Reds welcome the San Francisco Giants to the Great American Ball Park this weekend for three games. Seats are available at the stadium starting at $10.

The Cincinnati Reds had a successful series against NL Central rivals the Pittsburgh Pirates this week. Sweeping 3-0, the victories move the Reds to 7-2 so far, their most successful start to a season since 1990. Fans will remember that year as the last time the team won the World Series, and are hopeful that it’s a sign of good things to come in 2016-2017. Cincinnati has been hitting well and is nurturing youngster Amir Garrett behind the mound. His performance Wednesday was impressive on all accounts, shutting out the competition for seven rounds to help his team sweep the Pirates. Next, the Reds face the Brewers for four games this Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Great American Ball Park. Get your tickets for $6.
