What It’s Like
First off, attending a NASCAR race is super affordable. Lots of races allow you to bring in your own cooler so you don’t have to pay the $7 to $10 per beer prices that you would at an NBA, NFL, or MLB game. Also, NASCAR is a whole weekend affair! Don’t just go for Sunday either – make a weekend of it! You can book a camping spot, invite your friends, and bring all your desired meats, snacks, beers, and grill out the night and day before the big race! Plus, on Saturdays, they hold practice races and qualifying rounds so you get more racing action for your money!
Even if NASCAR isn’t your thing, you’ll love the people watching at these events. The sport might get a reputation for being a little redneck, but these fans love to have a good time. Get out of your comfort zone and enjoy it! There are all walks of life here, people from all income levels, and some truly die-hard fans who are shockingly friendly. Wander the RV lots and campgrounds to make new friends or check out all the excitement and extras going on around the track. Bonus points if you use the opportunity to blend in, wear jorts, and rock a really American t-shirt with pride!
Never watch NASCAR on TV? No problem. It’s WAY better live anyway. You can watch the cars speed by, feel the wind and vibrations from the track, and really get into the excitement of a live race, potential crashes, and caution flags. There’s a reason people get hooked after their first live race.
Wanna be even more hands-on? Find yourself a pit tour, pace car ride, or a meet-and-greet with your favorite driver so you can get some autographs. That’s something you’ll never find at an NFL game!
Where to Sit
The stadiums at NASCAR speedways are larger than any other professional sports arenas in the US. Indianapolis Motor Speedway holds 250,000 fans while Bristol can contain up to 160,000. Daytona holds 150,000 rowdy fans. So, depending on where you want to be and how close you want to get to the track, you’ve got options. So long as you reserve your seats early.
Do you just want to sit in the infield and party? Or do you want to be up close and personal on the victory lane? Bring earplugs and sunglasses and be prepared for the noise and debris. Maybe you’d rather be high in the grandstands so you can see the turns and action all over the track. If you want a fancier experience, check out clubhouse level seats instead. These tickets typically come with plush perks like comfy leather seats, great views, flat screen TVs, and food and beverage options.
