It really is the Year of the Horse—the “Dark Horse” that is. Pop sensation Katy Perry followed up the announcement of her long-awaited Prismatic World Tour, with the climb of bewitching single “Dark Horse” to No. 1 and surpassing the 50 million-follower mark on Twitter—making her the most followed person on the social media site. Perry’s latest ascension to the top marks the Santa Barbara-native’s 9th career No. 1 single, where she joins an elite group of musicians who have amassed multiple chart-toppers from consecutive albums. The “Roar” singer is also the only artist to hit No. 1 each year of the current decade. Buck up Katycats, because now you can catch this pop queen when she rides into a city near you on the Prismatic World Tour!
This gospel singer-turned-sex kitten preceded the debut of fourth-studio album, Prism, last year by the release of “Roar” and “Unconditionally.” In 2014, Katy Perry will bring hits new and old to 61 dates on the North American leg of her Prismatic World Tour. The summer tour will run from June to October: kicking off in Raleigh, NC (6/22/14) and commencing with two nights in Houston, TX (10/10-10/11/14). In response to increased ticket demand, Kitty Purry’s momma added over a dozen shows primarily to the American Northeast. Recently added cities include: Washington, DC, Newark, Toronto, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Edmonton, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Anaheim, San Jose, Dallas and Houston.
The “California Gurls” singer is known to have a sweet-tooth, and this year, her fans are certainly in for a treat! Prismatic boasts an enviable opening lineup that she selected herself: Capital Cities Kacey Musgraves and Tegan & Sara are splitting opening acts duties throughout the summer. Once more, Perry proves she’s as much a visual artist as she is musical, so you’ve got to be there to see the unique stage designed by the singer herself! Tickets will even be available in the “Reflection Section” to get the full experience of the bright and multicolored themed-show. Perry also assures Katycats that her tickets will be far more affordable than other pop songstresses’ (we’re lookin at you Miley, Gaga, T-Swift). Perry even crunched some numbers herself, and during an interview with Capitol FM she stated:
