The 2020 WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view will take place live on March 8th at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There are some pretty big stakes involved for these matches – like a shot at the biggest titles in the game at the most hyped WWE pay-per-view of the year. Not much as been confirmed yet – we’ll likely learn more on Friday’s episode of SmackDown – but here’s a look at the current 2020 WWE Elimination Chamber match card as well as a few rumors and predictions…
First off, the rules. The titular matches at this event take place in the “Elimination Chamber,” which is, well, a giant cage that’s enclosed on all sides. Two wrestlers begin inside the cage while four other competitors are locked in clear boxes at each corner of the ring. They are then released one by one “at random” as the match progresses, and the wrestlers fight until there is only one winner left standing.

Women’s Elimination Chamber Participants
This is the only match with confirmed participants. The winner of the Women’s Elimination Chamber match will receive the honor of battling Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania 36 in April. Lynch is now the longest-running Raw Women’s Champ in WWE history, so it needs to be a contender with the potential to dethrone her.
A few days ago, they announced that Shayna Baszler, Ruby Riott, Natalya, Asuka, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan will battle it out in this year’s Women’s Elimination Chamber cage match.
Baszler especially wants a shot at Lynch after her bloody biting fiasco on Raw a little over a week ago. And then we’ve got Ruby Riott, who is finally back in the ring after a long-term injury and surgery kept her away for nearly a year. We saw Riott betray her friend Liv Morgan on Raw this week, and while it’s great that she’s back on the main card, we don’t think this is hers to win – it’s just too soon. Asuka is super skilled in the ring, and she’s been so close to a shot at the title on a big PPV lately that we feel like she deserves it. Unfortunately, we’ve seen her and Becky in the ring too often together. So honestly, it looks like Baszler is the clear favorite to take this one. She and The Man have a score to settle and it’s likely to go down on the biggest stage of all – Wrestlemania.

Men’s Elimination Chamber Participants
The winner of this one will get to face the WWE Universal Champion for a shot at the title at Wrestlemania as well. That opponent will either be “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt or Goldberg, depending on what goes down at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia on February 27th. (Yeah, it’ll almost definitely be Bray Wyatt, come on.)
According to a leaked advertisement for the event, the men’s participants could include Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, King Corbin, Shinsuke Nakamura, Braun Strowman, and Robert Roode. However, we have to remember that Nakamura and Strowman are still feuding over the Intercontinental Championship, so they might already be busy that night with a title match of their own. Kingston would also be a great contender, but it looks like he’ll be occupied with a tag team match. Roode seems a bit random because he’s not typically a headliner, so take this all with a grain of salt.
Other potential names for the Men’s Elimination Chamber include Aleister Black, Elias, and Sheamus.
The New Day vs. The Miz and John Morrison for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles
According to the Wells Fargo Center’s website, this tag team title match will be going down at WWE Elimination Chamber, even though it’ll also be happening at Super ShowDown first. If this is legit, then expect lots more drama between these two duos in the weeks between these PPV events. The title might even change hands a couple of times!
Other Potential Matches? Rumors?
As we mentioned, there’s the potential for an Intercontinental Title match between Strowman and Nakamura. CBS Sports is also predicting a potential Raw Tag Team Title match featuring Seth Rollins and Murphy versus Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe (that is, if Rollins and Murphy make it out of their contest with The Street Profits at Super ShowDown with titles intact).
It’s also important to mention that rumor has it there will be a rematch from Super ShowDown at this pay-per-view event… and it will likely be a big one. We shall see.
Other WWE Superstars in Attendance?
We’re not sure in what capacity they’ll be appearing, but Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens, Charlotte Flair, and Bayley will all be there. Remember, because they each won their respective Royal Rumbles, McIntyre and Flair are already slated to challenge for a title at Wrestlemania, so once Elimination Chamber is in the books, we’ll have a more complete idea of what those big headliners look like!
