We’ve already gone over some NFL storylines to watch this season, but what about teams? Who is going to kill it this year? Which teams will make the playoffs? After a whole season of speculating about the Chiefs, Rams, and Patriots, will those teams be on top again in 2019? Well, maybe. Here are our picks for NFL teams to watch in 2019… and where to buy cheap NFL tickets to see your favorite teams play (even if they don’t make this list).

Kansas City Chiefs
Yeah, you knew you’d find the Chiefs on this list. With a star quarterback like Patrick Mahomes and a team that just barely missed the Super Bowl last season, we’ll be watching this young prodigy hard in 2019 and 2020. You saw how this MVP played in his first year in the pros, so with that experience under his belt, we can’t wait to see how far the Chiefs and their explosive offense will go. (Watch your back, Brady.) Their defense, which got so much criticism last year, is working with new coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, so expect them to improve in that arena (which is basically the team’s only flaw). Kansas City also signed former Houston Texans safety Tyrann “Honey Badger” Mathieu, so that should help defensive matters as well. Mathieu is young, healthy, and hasn’t missed a game over the past two years (a far cry from the Chiefs’ Eric Berry). And don’t forget about the lightning fast Tyreek Hill and stars like tight end Travis Kelce – he says the Chiefs are “taking it up a level” this season.
New England Patriots
As much as we’d like to give some different NFL teams a chance, the Patriots just keep falling into the spotlight. Brady is back with Bellichick, and although Gronk is gone, we’ve yet to see what wide receiver Josh Gordon can do if he can stay out of trouble for a full season. (Never forget that Gordon led the NFL with 1,646 yards back in 2013.) He’s now fully reinstated and he’s got Julian Edelman by his side, after all. Trey Flowers and Trent Brown are gone from the New England roster, but they’ve been replaced with Michael Bennett and Isaiah Wynn. And look for young running back Sony Michel to play an even bigger role this year. It won’t be surprising if the Patriots top the AFC East… again.
New Orleans Saints
Drew Brees had a phenomenal, near-MVP season in 2018 and we think he’ll continue that momentum into this season as well. Head coach Sean Payton is fantastic, and the addition of tight end Jared Cook will give him even more to work with. After getting so close to the Super Bowl last year and being robbed of the opportunity in that Rams game (fans are still mad over that no-call, btw), this team will be motivated to win at all costs this year. They’re already a 3/5 favorite to win the NFC South and the season hasn’t even started yet. It’s been ten years since Brees led the franchise to a Super Bowl and we think it’s about time. He’s still got Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara to work with, and the Saints have added running back Latavius Murray to the mix. Saints-Chiefs Super Bowl, anyone?
We could’ve rounded out this list with the Los Angeles Rams, but how fun would that be? Starting off the 2019 season by picking the best teams from January of last year… Nope, not here. With their elite defense and much-improved QB Mitch Trubisky leading the team under coach Matt Nagy, we think the Bears are gonna go far this season. (Yes, even though defensive coordinator Vic Fangio did leave them for Denver. Don’t worry, we think Chuck Pagano will be a solid replacement). Trubisky will shine even brighter in 2019 and new addition running back Mike Davis will help him convert, along with the likes of Tarik Cohen and Jordan Howard. Things will be even better for Chicago if tight end Trey Burton can get healthy. The Bears start out the season with a tough game against the rival Green Bay Packers though, so they’ll be tested early on. Keep an eye on them though!
