Superdome

The Superdome hosted the first game of the New Orleans Saints on September 28, 1975 when the Saints played against the Cincinnati Bengals. Featuring nearly 70,000 seats, there are three tiers of multicolored seats that circle the whole field. There are several video and scoreboards that are scattered around the stadium.

The dome stadium was named the Louisiana Superdome, because of its massive size. The Superdome covers 13 acres and is 27 stories tall.

In August 2005, the Superdome was the shelter for more than 30,000 residents immediately following Hurricane Katrina. The hurricane sheared away much of the roof's covering and water leaked into the stadium. The Superdome sustained $185.4 million in damage. The New Orleans Saints played their 2005 home games in San Antonio at the Alamodome, and in Baton Rouge at Tiger Stadium. In January 2006 work began to clean up and renovate the Superdome.

The New Orleans Saints played their first game in the city since 2004 on September 24, 2006 against the Atlanta Falcons.

In April 2009, the Saints and the State of Louisiana reached an agreement to keep the franchise at the Superdome through 2025. Known now as just the Superdome, the venue is located in the Central Business District in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Dome is one of the largest fixed domed structures built in the U.S.A.

The Superdome is located on 52 acres of land with an original playing field of AstroTurf. Before the 2006 season, the field was change to FieldTurf.
