Candlestick Park opened on April 12, 1960, with then Vice President Richard Nixon throwing out the first pitch for a San Francisco Giants baseball game. The oblong design feature two decks and four seating areas that are separated into different ticket regions including Luxury Suites, Upper and Lower Box seats, Upper Reserved and Lower Reserved seats, and a Lower East section on the visitor's side of the park.
The large JumboTron includes a television monitor as well. The main scoreboard sits in left field, with additional scoreboards located on the perimeter of the upper right field deck.
The stadium encompasses over 14 acres with the first expansion taking place in 1969, and was one of the first multi-use stadiums built in the U.S.A. With over 8,000 parking spaces for cars, buses and limousines, there is even designated parking for 300-plus recreational vehicles.
Named Candlestick Park for its location and after a naming contest, night games are amazing with over 350 feet of candle-shaped lights on the face of the arena. The venue boasts a natural grass field that has hosted Hall of Frame greats such as Joe Montana and Jerry Rice.
