Built for the Dallas Cowboys, this stadium is located in Arlington, Texas. Featuring a retractable roof, it was completed on May 29, 2009 and can accommodate 80,000 fans.
Designed by the architectural firm HKS, the new stadium can also be used by college football teams and other organizations for other sporting and non-sporting events.
A pair of nearly 300 foot arches spans the length of the stadium dome, anchored to the ground at each end. The new stadium also includes glass doors that allow each end zone to be opened and to house a center-hung video display board. The 160 foot by 72 foot, 11,520 square foot scoreboard is one of the largest in America.
As fans enter AT&T Stadium they receive panoramic views of the field as it is 50 feet below street level. The stadium has a main seating capacity of 80,000, but is expandable to seat nearly 100,000 fans for large events such as the Super Bowl. The Cowboys can move the seats closer together, adding one or two chairs per row to increase the seating capacity.
The seats are fastened onto long, aluminum rails bolted into the concrete. The molded seats take up 24 inches of space with small gaps between the chairs. 200 suites are located across five levels, including the Hall of Fame level that is just 21 rows from the playing field. There are 15,000 club seats that encompass the field.
Featuring a massive HD videoboard that is suspended 90 feet above the center of the field, fans can watch the action from any seat in the house. This four screen HD videoboard is 160 feet long by 71 feet high and runs from one 25 yard line to the other.
The Dallas Cowboy's first game at the stadium was on September 22, 2009 against the New York Giants. The first event at Cowboys Stadium was a country concert featuring George Strait on June 9, 2009.
In addition to being the home of the Cowboys, the stadium will be the site of many high profile sporting events and concerts. They include the 2010 Cotton Bowl, 2010 NBA All-Star Game, Super Bowl XLV in 2011 and the 2014 NCAA Men's Final Four.
