Michigan Wolverines

Established in 1817, the University of Michigan Ann Arbor is the oldest institution in that particular state. UM is a major research facility and is considered to be one of the original eight Public Ivies, a reference to a school giving an Ivy League educational experience at a public school price. Michigan’s fight song “The Victors” supposedly was hailed by legendary composer John Philip Sousa as the greatest fight song of all time.

It makes sense, because athletics play a big part in the tradition of this university. The Wolverines play at the largest college football only stadium in the world. Michigan Stadium holds over 107,000 Wolverine fans! In addition, Michigan’s basketball team plays at Crisler Arena, and the Wolverines hockey team which plays at Yost Ice Arena is a perennial favorite to win the Frozen Four each year. Once the games are over, head on over to the Blind Pig and Hill Auditorium for your music needs!
