One of the most beautiful areas of the planet exists in the 50th state of the Union in Hawaii. The University of Hawaii at Manoa competes in the Western Athletic Conference, gaining recognition in recent years for the success of its football program. The school is the flagship campus of the University of Hawaii’s collegiate system. Located in Manoa, which is part of Honolulu, the University of Hawaii has developed a strong reputation for marine sciences and geriatrics. One notable alumnus from the school, although she did not graduate, is the “Divine Miss M” Bette Midler.
The Hawaii athletic program goes by a myriad of names depending on the sport. Mascots include the Warriors, the Rainbows and the Rainbow Warriors, which was the sole mascot name until 2000. Warriors fans can support Hawaii at Aloha Stadium for football and Stan Sheriff Center for basketball and volleyball. For other sporting events, concerts, plays and musicals, be sure to visit Neil S. Blaisdell Concert Hall.
