The University of Georgia was founded in 1785, which could possibly make this school the oldest institution in the country. Located in Athens, Georgia, the school has a well-established student newspaper, a strong Greek system and one of the better college town atmospheres in the country, with acclaimed bands such as R.E.M. and the B-52's coming from this area.
Athletically the Georgia Bulldogs have a well-respected program, competing in the brutal Southeastern Conference. Having won national titles in football, women's gymnastics, baseball, men's and women's tennis and golf, and women's swimming and diving, the Bulldogs definitely bring it on the field. Travel to Sanford Stadium for an exciting Bulldogs football game, and during basketball season catch the University of Georgia at Stegeman Coliseum. Be sure to indulge in a little Athens entertainment, with the Classic Center Theater one venue to catch a show at.
