The United States Naval Academy is an undergraduate college located in Annapolis, Maryland. Officers from the United States Navy and the Marine Corps are educated at this institution. Founded in 1845, The Academy is considered to be an "approved technological institution" and focuses heavily on the development of the moral character of the students.
Annapolis participates in football as an independent team and in the Patriot League for other sports. The Navy Midshipmen play their home football games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. In addition, the Naval Academy has strong programs in lacrosse, rowing, shooting and fencing.
