The Ohio State University – and yes, The is officially part of the school name – was established as a public university in 1870. The school currently holds the distinction of being the largest single campus university in the country. Ohio State has high standards of academics, proven with its membership into the Association of American Universities. It is the only public university in Ohio among the organization's sixty members. Like any university The Ohio State University has some distinguished alumni, including the “Golden Bear” Jack Nicklaus, Noble laureate Paul Flory in chemistry and baseball broadcaster Jack Buck.
A trip to Ohio State would not be complete without a visit to the “Horseshoe”, Ohio Stadium, home of the Buckeyes football team. The Ohio State University generally has a solid basketball program as well, playing their home games at the Schottenstein Center. After a day of sports, wind down with a good concert or show close to The Ohio State University at the Capitol Theatre, Palace Theatre and Screamin Willies. Life is good with plenty to do while visiting Ohio State!
