Clemson University

Founded in 1889, Clemson University is a public research facility located in Clemson, South Carolina. The college's focus is in five different areas: Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences; Architecture, Arts and Humanities; Business and Behavioral Sciences; Engineering and Science; and Health, Education and Human Development. Notable alumni from Clemson University includes Gary Parsons, Chairman of the Board and former President and CEO of XM Satellite Radio, MLB pitcher Jimmy Key and NFL wide receiver Dwight Clark.

Clemson University has a huge rivalry with fellow in-state school South Carolina. The annual football game between the two school draws massive crowds. Football at Clemson is played at Memorial Stadium, affectionately nicknamed "Death Valley". The team is taken by bus to The Hill five minutes before game-time where the players huddle, rub "Howard's Rock", then in one big bull rush when Tiger Rag is played they run down the hill onto the field. A great tradition, this has been called "the most exciting 25 seconds in college football" by sportscaster Brent Musburger.

Clemson University basketball is played at Littlejohn Coliseum in front of a packed house. Clemson athletics are a big part of Clemson University, so make sure your visit to Clemson, SC involves at least one big event!
