New York Red Bulls News – 2013 Red Bulls Updates
The New York Red Bulls have yet another new look this year with Mike Petke being named head coach and acquisitions including MF Juninho Pernambucan, D Jámison Olave, and D Kosuke Kimura. Petke is a risk taker and believes in a competitive system. All eyes will be on the former assistant coach as he looks to lead the wealth of talent on the Red Bulls roster to their first Championship in club history. The team's best result was making it to the MLS Cup final in 2008. Arsenal legend Thierry Henry will return for his fourth season with the club. With the absence of David Beckham from MLS, it will likely be Henry who becomes the face of the League. Can he make the NY Red Bulls a premier
MLS team?
The Red Bulls schedule is stacked with prime matchups, including a season opener against main rival
DC United (3/16). It was DC United who knocked New York out of the playoffs last November. The Red Bulls will look to secure the Atlantic Cup with two of three matches against DC United at home. DC United Red Bulls tickets are ranging between $21 and $189 for the first of the two matchups; tickets to the March game are averaging $8 more than the 8/31 matchup at
Red Bull Arena. The Red Bulls will also host rivals
New England Revolution (4/20, 10/5) and
Philadelphia Union (3/30, 8/17). All in all, NY Red Bull tickets are averaging $54, $9 more expensive than the League average.
