Montreal Impact 2015 Season

4/7/15 - Tuesday night could prove to be historic for the Montreal Impact, who take on Costa Rican power L.D. Alajuelense in Alajuela, a suburb of the capital San Jose, in CONCACAF Champions League play. Should the Impact win outright, draw by any score, or score once in a loss, they will advance to the CCL finals, becoming the second Major League Soccer side to advance since Real Salt Lake fell to Monterrey in 2011.

3/25/15 - The continental magic continued for the Montreal Impact, who kept an all-important clean sheet in their CONCACAF semifinal first leg against Costa Rican side L.D. Alajuelense en route to a 2-0 victory. The Impact return to MLS play this weekend, hosting expansion side Orlando City at Olympic Stadium, their last match of the season at the indoor facility. The return leg against Alajuelense in the Costa Rican suburb of Alajuela is set for April 7.

3/11/15 - The weekend was a bit of a letdown for the Montreal Impact, who followed a stunning draw against Mexican side C.F. Pachuca in CONCACAF Champions League play with a 1-0 loss to D.C. United to open their 2015 MLS campaign this past Saturday. However, the Impact know who they’ll be playing in the CCL semifinals; they open a two-legged aggregate goals series on April 18 with L.D. Alajuelense, the Costa Rican side who knocked out D.C. earlier in the week.

3/4/15 - As bad as 2014 was for the Montreal Impact, 2015 is already an historic year. The Impact eliminated Mexico’s Liga MX powers C.F. Pachuca in CONCACAF Champions League play earlier in the week, advancing to the semifinals for the first time on away goals after a 1-1 draw in the return leg, played (fortunately for everyone involved) indoors at Olympic Stadium. The Impact will face either MLS rivals D.C. United, or Costa Rican power L.D. Alajuelense in the semifinals.

2014 Season

In just their second season as an MLS squad, Montreal Impact achieved some notable records in 2013 – first, claiming the 2013 Amway Canadian Championship (their first as an MLS side; Impact also won in 2008 as a USL First Division entry) and Canada’s lone representative in CONCACAF Champions League; and qualifying for the 2013 MLS Cup Playoffs as the fifth seed and second wild card. Though Impact dropped their wild-card game to Houston, they had established a new mark to aim for going forward. Italian striker Marco di Vaio lit up MLS nets 20 times in 2013, and was a league MVP finalist. Midfielder Patrice Bernier is also a player to keep an eye on, as the team’s #2 goal scorer.

2013 Season

10/28/13 – The Impact grabbed the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and will matchup against the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium Thursday. Earlier this season, the Montreal Impact were one of the most feared teams in MLS in large part to forward and MVP contender Marco Di Vaio. While Vaio can lead the charge, he’ll need others to contribute on the road. If Montreal can win the one-game play-in match, earning their first win over the Dynamo in two seasons, they’ll face the 2013 Supporters' Shield winner, New York Red Bulls. The Impact qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs in only its second year in the League thanks to some help from New York who beat Chicago, Sunday.
