Los Angeles Galaxy News – 2013 Galaxy Updates

David Beckham may be gone, but the Los Angeles Galaxy have high hopes, as they aim for a yet another Major League Soccer first in 2013 — becoming the first MLS side to three-peat. Last year saw the Galaxy become just the third squad, after D.C. United (1996-97) and Houston Dynamo (2006-07), to win back-to-back championships. Among the returnees are Ireland international Robbie Keane, and U.S. international Landon Donovan, both of whom found the back of the net in significant quantities (16 goals for Keane, nine for Donovan), as well as forward Mike Magee; Brazilian midfielder Juninho, and defenders Omar Gonzalez and Sean Franklin. Stepping in as goalkeeper is Italian Carlo Cudicini, best known as one of the top keepers in the Barclays Premier League while with Chelsea F.C. Not only have the Galaxy kept the MLS Cup, they also qualified for another year of international club competition, their fourth consecutive in CONCACAF Champions League facing the top club teams in North and Central America and the Caribbean. Can Bruce Arena’s club score another MLS Cup trophy? Can they become the first MLS side to win CONCACAF honors since an earlier Galaxy squad claimed the CONCACAF Champions Cup in 2000? Supporters at the Home Depot Center are certainly hoping so!

Despite success in the recent years, LA Galaxy tickets are fifth cheapest in MLS. The average Galaxy ticket is $43 at the Home Depot Center, a field the team shares with rival Chivas USA. When the two crosstown rivals meet in the LA Derby on March 17, cheap Galaxy tickets are available for just $8. The get-in price for the October 6 matchup is $18. The LA Derby is the only intra-city rivalry in the League. The LA Galaxy schedule also includes two matchups against chief rival the San Jose Earthquakes (8/31, 10/20). The average ticket to watch the California Clásico is $47.

2012 MLS Cup tickets at the Home Depot Center averaged $215. After winning the MLS Cup Final, the LA Galaxy joined DC United as American soccer's most decorated professional clubs.
