Houston Dynamo News – 2013 Dynamo Updates
Since moving to Houston from San Jose (as the original San Jose Clash/Earthquakes) before the 2006 season, the Houston Dynamo have had a significant amount of success, becoming the second Major League Soccer side (after
D.C. United) to win back to back MLS Cups, in 2006 and 2007; while also making their mark at the international level in various CONCACAF competitions, including Champions Cup and League, and the short-lived SuperLiga. 2011 and 2012 saw the Orange and White return to the MLS Cup Final once again, only to be stymied in their championship efforts by the star-laden
Los Angeles Galaxy. For many years, the "face" of the Dynamo has been forward and U.S. international Brian Ching, who has also been the team's leading goal scorer in each season of being in Houston. Ching has been taking a reduced role in the Dynamo strike force of late, while players such as Will Bruin step up to the fore. Houston's defense has been led by such players as Bobby Boswell, who is also an effective goalscorer; Jamaican import Jermaine Taylor; and netminder Tally Hall. Coach Dominic Kinnear, who has been with the Dynamo since their move from San Jose, is considered one of Major League Soccer's top coaches, and the record books back that up. With 2013 being the first full season the Dynamo defend the pitch at
BBVA Compass Stadium in downtown Houston — the facility opened in May 2012, two months into that season &mdsah; supporters groups like the Texian Army have much to look forward to, both domestically and internationally in CONCACAF play.
Did you know the Houston Dynamo have more season ticket holders and higher attendance than the
Houston Rockets and
Houston Astros? On the secondary market Dynamo tickets are the tenth most expensive in
MLS and just $.60 over the League average. You won't have to pay much more to see the Club on the road; Houston Dynamo tickets are averaging $41 for away matches. The most expensive soccer match at BBVA Compass Stadium will be played against the
Philadelphia Union (7/6). The cheapest match will be
Sporting Kansas City (10/9).
