San Jose Sharks News – 2013 Sharks Updates

After the three division leaders in the National Hockey League's Western Conference — record-setting Chicago in the Central; Anaheim in the Pacific, and Vancouver in the Northwest — just six points separate the next 11 teams, from fourth place to 14th. Smack dab in the middle of this logjam, scrambling for playoff positioning, are the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks got off to a hot start to begin the lockout-shortened 2013 season, but have won just once in their last 10 games. Defensively the Sharks are one of the league's top squads, and with an effective penalty-kill unit; but as a team are struggling to light the lamp. Individually, however, center Patrick Marleau is among league leaders in goal-scoring; as well as leading the Sharks team in goals and overall points (goals plus assists). Another Sharks center, Joe Thornton, leads the squad in assists, and is even with Marleau on points; while a third center, Joe Pavelski, is not far behind in team leaders Marleau and Thornton. Defensively, goaltender Antti Niemi is among the league leaders in save percentage and goals-against average, allowing slightly under two goals per game; meanwhile, winger Ryane Clowe is one of the league's top enforcers, collecting penalty minutes at a furious clip. Coach Tom McLellan has to be hoping his team turns things around and makes a move to break away from the pack, as do the HP Pavilion faithful.

San Jose Sharks hockey tickets average $116 at home, placing the Sharks just outside the ten most popular NHL teams this season. What's the hottest Sharks ticket in 2013? Upcoming home games on the San Jose Sharks schedule feature the Nashville Predators (3/2), LA Kings (3/14), Anaheim Ducks (3/27), and Detroit Red Wings (3/28). The matchup with the Calgary Flames on April 5th is the most expensive remaining home game, with an average tickets price of $130. Sharks hockey fans on a budget will find cheap San Jose Sharks tickets in the $40-$60 range at most home games, depending on the opponent. Are the Sharks popular on the road too? Not so much. In fact, Sharks tickets average just $78 — the cheapest away game NHL tickets this season.
