New York Islanders News – 2013 Islanders Updates
The New York Islanders franchise is trying to stay positive after five consecutive losing seasons and no Stanley Cup Playoff appearances since 2007. Islanders fans do have one thing to look forward to — the team will be moving to the
Barclays Center for the 2015-2016 NHL season and will be calling Brooklyn their home until 2040. For now, Islanders fans will have to relish in the team's recent win over rival New York Rangers at
Madison Square Garden and the evolving game of Centre John Tavares. The Islanders also acquired Goalie Tim Thomas from the Bruins in early February, a trade GM Garth Snow said would allow for flexibility with the New York Islanders roster moving forward. Looking forward seems to be the theme of this youthful, Islanders organization.
The Islanders were one of the twenty-one
NHL teams to see an increase in their average ticket price since last season. New York Islanders tickets are averaging 12% more than the 2011-2012 season at $144. However, Rangers-Islanders tickets are down $51 per ticket since the beginning of the season; Battle of New York tickets are now averaging $127 for the March 7 matchup and $150 for the April 13 game at
Nassau Coliseum. Aside from the remaining two games against the Rangers, cheap Islanders tickets are available with Islanders get-in prices less than $20. Upcoming games on the Islanders schedule include divisional matchups with the
Pittsburgh Penguins (3/22) and
Philadelphia Flyers (4/9).
