Dallas Stars 2014-2015 News and Updates

2013-2014 Season

4/21/14 – After falling behind 2-0 in Anaheim, the Stars will try to get their first playoff win of the year at home Monday (get-in $14). Dallas Stars tickets for Game 3 are averaging $89 at American Airlines Center-TX for the first home playoff game in Dallas since 2008; prices are down 33 percent since the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Dallas was 23-11-7 during the regular season on home-ice and will look to do the same thing that the Anaheim Ducks did to them – win two games at home! The Stars dropped a pair of one-goal games in Anaheim: 4-3 in the opener Wednesday and 3-2 Friday in Game 2; the series marks the third all-time playoff meeting between the two clubs.

4/17/14 – The Dallas Stars made the NHL playoffs for the first time since 2008 by clinching the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference with 91 points. They’ll face former defenseman Staphane Robidas’ and the Anaheim Ducks in the cheapest Division Semifinals series. The two opponents played Game 1 in Anaheim Wednesday night; the home team got the 4-3 victory in the opening game of the Western Conference quarterfinals. Game 2 (avg. $77) will be played Friday at the Honda Center and the Stars hope to have Brenden Dillon back in the lineup. The defenseman was replaced by Aaron Rome Wednesday after nursing an unspecified injury. Games 3 (avg. $132), 4 (avg. $138), and 6 if nec. (avg. $180) will be played at American Airlines Center-TX.

4/9/14 – The Stars keep their hold on the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference after a 3-2 shootout win over Nashville Tuesday night. Ray Whitney (lower body injury) missed his third straight game; the Stars winger left the game early against the Hurricanes Thursday. Dallas will start tonight’s game trailing Columbus 0-1, the score on March 10 when the game between these teams was cancelled because Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench. Wednesday’s game will be played in full but the Blue Jackets will get to keep the goal they scored. Dallas has not lost in regulation in their last eight home games, can they keep the streak alive in their final two at American Airlines Center?

4/3/14 – Dallas is doing all they can to secure their first Stanley Cup playoff berth since 2008, winning five of their last six including a shutout victory over Washington Tuesday. Dustin Jeffrey scored his first two goals of the season and Tyler Seguin locked us his 33rd the same night. The Stars will play their third straight road game (of five) Thursday in Carolina and from what the two teams have displayed all season, it should be a fast paced, up-and-down the ice matchup. Dallas averages 31.7 shots per game to Carolina’s 31.3; with that, both give up close to 31.

3/28/14 – The Dallas Stars dropped their sixteenth game of the season to Central Division foes Tuesday night in Chicago. Ryan Garbutt’s two goals and six shots was not enough to lift the Stars past the Blackhawks. Dallas will try to bounce back tonight against Nashville, who they’ll play in their next two home games. They’ll try and do so without Ray Whitney and Erik Cole. Friday night’s matchup is averaging $48, $32 less than the April 8 game at American Airlines Center-TX. Now trailing five points behind the Phoenix Coyotes and six behind the Minnesota Wild, it’s time for the Stars to shine.

3/19/14 – Good news for Dallas Stars’ Rich Peverley who underwent a successful surgery to correct an abnormal heart rhythm just one week after the forward collapsed on the bench during a game. For the rest of the team, they will look to bounce back after three straight losses including Tuesday’s drop to Pittsburgh in Kari Lehtonen (concussion) return. Following Thursday’s road game in Philly, the Stars will be back on home ice to take on Ottawa (avg. $124). Be there in the Dallas Stars’ final push toward the NHL Playoffs!

3/10/14 – The Dallas Stars swapped goalies with the Florida Panthers in the final hours of the NHL trade deadline and now, veteran goalie Tim Thomas will make his first start for the Dallas Stars after the team announced that No.1 goaltender Kari Lehtonen has a concussion (no time table). Dallas Stars tickets to see Thomas’ debut against the Columbus Blue Jackets range from $71-$307 while Friday’s game at American Airlines Center-TX vs. the Calgary Flames is a bit more expensive, averaging $80.

3/4/14 - Stars coach Lindy Ruff earned his 600th NHL win last night with a victory over the Sabres. Forward Alex Chiasson scored the game-winning power-play goal, his first in 13 games. Dallas will head to Columbus tonight to face the Blue Jackets before returning home for three straight - Vancouver (avg. $74), Minnesota (avg. $207), and Columbus (avg. $76). Saturday’s game against the Wild is the most expensive game remaining at American Airlines Center this season; Minnesota has won five straight and just added Ilya Bryzgalov to their roster.

2/25/14 - While most teams were complaining about the Olympic break messing with their momentum, the Dallas Stars welcomed the hiatus, as it allowed players to rest and recuperate from their injuries. With a healthy team and three Olympians (plus one Olympic coach) back in place, the Stars are primed to take on their 24-game second half run successfully. In the postseason push, the Stars are holding onto the final wildcard spot in the Western Conference. Two players came home with historic hardware that will be displayed during their first game back from break, against the Carolina Hurricanes this Thursday. Attend the game to see and take pictures of the gold (awarded to Jamie Benn of Canada) and bronze (awarded to Kari Lehtonen of Finland) medals from Sochi: located near Section 113 from 6:30-7:30 prior to faceoff. Dallas Stars tickets in the Lower Level Section 113 are still available for $71, while tickets up top start at $12.

2/21/14 - The Stars are brimming with talent, and it shows in the performances of their players over in Sochi: coaches Lindy Ruff (Canada) and Valeri Nichuskin (Russia) and players Kari Lehtonen (Finland), Valeri Nichuschkin (Russia), and Jamie Benn (Canada) have all made waves for their respective countries—lets hope they bring all that energy back to Texas when the NHL resumes play! Dallas is still battling with the Phoenix Coyotes for ownership of 8th and final wildcard spot, so they'll have to hit the ground running when they get back from break in less than a week. Dallas Stars tickets when they play the Carolina Hurricanes (2/27) start at an inexpensive $12.

2/4/14 – The Stars aligned Saturday when Dallas handed the NHL-leading Mighty Ducks their first shutout of the season (2-0). Goalie Dan Ellis made 26 saves against his former team, punching his 14th career shutout and helping the Stars snap a five-game road skid. Two of Dallas’ next three games will be played against Coyotes who they have yet to match up against this season. Phoenix Coyotes vs. Dallas Stars tickets will cost you an average $21 tonight in Arizona and an average $97 at American Airlines Center-TX (2/8).

1/30/14 – Leave it to the Stars to have fun with the big screen! Aside from their mocking of Justin Bieber on the video board, the roster is also keeping fans entertained, winning three of their last four at American Airlines Center-TX. The loss came against the Avs Monday night when Semyon Varlamov stopped Dallas’ scoring leader Tyler Seguin twice during a third-period power play when the score was tied. The Stars will look to rebound from their close finish tonight at home against New Jersey; Dallas Stars tickets to the game are available for just $20.

2012-2013 Season

3/22/13 - It appears that rivalries (if there even are any) among professional sports teams in the same city, are even bigger in Texas. Much of Dallas was made aware that the NHL lockout was over via the Cowboys twitter account. Nobody cares that the NHL is back? I'm sure Dallas Stars fans would think otherwise. The creative response back from the Stars (@DallasStars): At least our #9 got the job done. Not many can argue with that. Retired Star, #9 Mike Modano, led the Stars to their only Stanley Cup Championship. That was the past however; now, the Dallas Stars are currently three points out of the coveted eighth spot. This season the Stars have seen the additions of Derek Roy and Jaromir Jagr; both are being leaned on to get this team back to the NHL playoffs - just as Modano had.

Dallas Stars 2014-2015 Season

2013-2014 Season

The Dallas Stars attained former Boston Bruin, Tyler Seguin this offseason, one of the biggest acquisitions in the NHL. The addition of the former No. 2 overall pick contributed to the 33% increase in the average price of Dallas Stars tickets since last year. Seguin’s homecoming to TD Garden (11/5), in which fans will watch what they thought to be the future of their franchise, sit in the opposite box, is averaging $124. Following the NHL realignment, the Stars now belong to the Central Division with the Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, St. Louis Blues, and Winnipeg Jets. The most expensive game on the Stars schedule is against division foe, Minnesota Wild (3/8), averaging $323. Both Stars vs. Blackhawks games in November are top 5 games at American Airlines Center-TX averaging $219 (11/29) and $179 (11/9).

2012-2013 Season

The second half of the Dallas Stars schedule at home includes key divisional matchups against the Anaheim Ducks (4/1), Los Angeles Kings (4/9), and San Jose Sharks (4/14). The cheapest Dallas Stars tickets this season are for both matchups against the Ducks. The most expensive game remaining on the Stars schedule is their last regular season match against the Detroit Red Wings (4/27). The average Stars tickets are $7 cheaper than the average Dallas Mavericks tickets on the secondary market. Unlike many other NBA teams that share a City with an NHL team, Mavericks tickets remained unchanged following the NHL lockout.
