Carolina Hurricanes 2014-2015 News and Updates

2013-2014 Season

4/7/14 – Carolina has just one regulation loss in the past six which has helped to keep their faint playoff hopes alive. The Canes are five points behind New Jersey (whom they lost to Saturday) and eight points out of a playoff spot. Jeff Skinner logged his second 30-goal season despite only playing in 64 games thus far. Just one home game remains on the Carolina Hurricanes regular-season schedule, and you can catch it for as little as $5. 100-level seating inside PNC Arena for Thursday’s matchup against Washington starts at $31; Carolina is 18-16-6 as the host this season. Can the Canes’ finish above .500?
… more

4/1/14 – The Hurricanes are seven points back of a wild card spot with seven games to play. Carolina has lost six straight to tonight’s division counterparts, Pittsburgh Penguins, and the team has had to recall Chris Terry from Charlotte after Andrei Loktionov and Jiri Tlusty left last night’s game with injuries. While Jeff Skinner scored his 30th goal and extended his goal-scoring streak to four games, Carolina has been lackluster since the Olympic break (6-10-2). Cheap Carolina Hurricanes tickets remain for both home games this week – 1/3 Dallas ($5) and 1/5 New Jersey ($8).

3/27/14 – After missing the postseason for the fifth straight year, rumors are beginning to surface about potential trades. Names include: Cam Ward, Jeff Skinner, and Eric Staal. Make sure to catch the trio before the Carolina Hurricanes lineup sees a change this offseason with Canes tickets. The only major league professional sports team in North Carolina returns to PNC Arena Saturday to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets (avg. $48).

3/18/14 – Carolina Hurricanes tickets for remaining home games can be found for as little as $2, far below face value. Demand has fallen for the promising team that began the season in the top 5 of the Eastern Conference. Now thirteenth in the East, Carolina will likely miss their fifth consecutive NHL Playoffs which means there is a limited amount of opportunity to see them this year. The most affordable game remaining will be played April 5 against the New Jersey Devils (avg. $57).

3/10/14 – In the final hours of the NHL trade deadline, the New Jersey Devils acquired Tuomo Ruutu from Carolina for Andrei Loktionov and a conditional third-round pick in 2017. The two teams played each other Saturday and Ruutu scored the go-ahead goal in the third to lift his new team past the Canes. The Hurricanes will look to rebound after two straight losses Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers at PNC Arena. Carolina Hurricanes tickets for the meeting are just $5! Tickets for under $10 are also available for Thursday and Sunday’s games against the Buffalo Sabres and Edmonton Oilers respectively.

3/3/14 – What should’ve been an easy win for the Hurricanes, turned into a disappointing 2-3 loss against Buffalo to open the post-Olympic break. Carolina has dropped four straight and are 7 points behind eighth placed, Detroit. The team will play its fifth (and final) road game tomorrow in San Jose, before returning home Mar 7 to face New York. Tough decisions are looming for the Hurricanes front office as the NHL trade deadline is lurking. Will Carolina trade one of its 3 goaltenders? Will it be Cam Ward? Check out the changes, if any, to the Carolina Hurricanes roster Friday in their first game back since Sochi.

2/26/14 - Down in Raleigh the Hurricanes still have a good shot at a Wild-Card spot in the Eastern Conference as they sit on 61 points, just 3 back of a playoff spot. Can the Stahl bros carry them to the playoffs? After a 5 game road trip to restart the season after the Olympic break, they return home with two big games against the NY Rangers on March 7 and 11 and what should be an easy win against Buffalo on March 13. Great seats are available starting under $10 each!

2/21/14 – Good news Canes fans - Tumom Ruutu has found his game again at the Olympics! In the winger’s first three games, he recorded three assists, four points, six shots on goal, and scored Finland’s only goal against Canada. Don’t miss Ruutu when he returns to the ice in Raleigh with his Canes teammates Mar 7. Carolina Hurricanes tickets against the New York Rangers are as low as $22 for a seat in the upper level (corner) and reach $193 for a lower level (side) view.

2/4/14 – The Carolina Hurricanes picked up 10 wins in January, and will play their first game in February Tuesday against the Winnipeg Jets. Will Canes have Cam Ward in the net for the first time in 2014? Get to PNC Arena to find out, tonight’s game is just $3 to get in as the Canes try for their sixth win in seven games! The club's No. 1 goaltender has been out since Dec 31 with a lower-body injury. On the rumor mill, the organization will likely move one of their three netminders – Ward, Anton Khudobin and Justin Peters – by March 5.

1/29/14 – The Canes had won four in a row, including two postponed games, before dropping one Tuesday against Montreal. Beginning Friday, the Hurricanes will play four straight in Carolina facing St. Louis (avg. $47), Winnipeg (avg. $27), Florida (avg. $109), and Montreal (avg. $182) for a chance to erase last night’s shutout from their memory. Canes fans can score some affordable Carolina Hurricanes tickets at PNC Arena; the average price of tickets to remaining games is down 25 percent since the start of 2014, the fourth biggest drop in the League during that time period.

2012-2013 Season

2/25/13 - With injuries to some key defensemen on the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team and a concussion to Jeff Skinner that has left him out indefinitely, the Canes look to several prospects to fill the void. Will Skinner return to full strength? Can Carolina return to its first Stanley Cup playoffs since the 2008-2009 season?

Carolina Hurricanes 2014-2015 Season

There’s no denying that the Carolina Hurricanes concluded last season with disappointment. Mustering the No. 13 seed in the Eastern Conference, the ‘Canes missed their fifth playoff in a row, which marks the longest drought in the conference. The upcoming 2014-2015 season will debut major moves to the front office, in an effort to jumpstart this franchise with the power it needs to make it back into the postseason for the first time in five years. ??

General Manager Jim Rutherford has been relieved by Ron Francis, while rookie NHL coach Bill Peters (former Detroit Asst. Coach) will take over for Kirk Muller. The offseason acquisitions of Brad Malone, Jay McClement and Tim Gleason should provide amole help to the roster.Injuries contributed greatly to the ‘Canes troubles last year, but Eric Staal returns 100% healthy from core muscle surgery, while Alexander Semin will make his first appearance back from wrist surgery. Not to mention, with the Staals hitting their prime (aged 29, 25), and a bevy of young talented players like Elias Lindholm, the Hurricanes should take a leap in the 2014-2015 season.??

Don’t miss out on the ‘Canes comeback and get your 2014-2015 Carolina Hurricanes tickets today! The Hurricanes open their season at PNC Arena, when they play host to the New York Islanders on Oct. 10. They host the defending Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings on Nov. 2. You can’t pass up on Hurricanes tickets when they face arch nemesis, the Florida Panthers on Nov. 26.

2013-2014 Season

After once again missing the playoffs in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season, the Hurricanes hope to contend in the challenging new Metropolitan Division. The average price for Hurricanes tickets in 2013-14 is $84, fourth cheapest in the league. The Canes’ season opener on 10/4 at home against the Red Wings has an average price of $105, and is their third most expensive home game. The most expensive game at PNC Arena this season is on 3/7 against the Rangers, averaging $114.

2012-2013 Season

The Carolina Hurricanes signed Alexander ("Sasha") Semin in the 2012 offseason. Previously Semin had played for the Washington Capitals. His addition to the lineup with Jordan Staal has helped the Canes reach first place in the Division at various times of the 2013 season. On February 12, 2013 Alex scored his 200th career goal in a 6-4 win over the New York Islanders.

Cheap Hurricane tickets are available; each of the remaining games on the Carolina Hurricanes schedule has tickets for less than $20. Although the average Canes ticket is up $12 since the beginning of the season, the team's average is much lower than that of the Leagues. And, you'll pay about 25% less to watch the Hurricanes at home as opposed to on the road. Carolina Hurricanes tickets for Divisional matchups are amongst the cheapest of all remaining Hurricanes games. Florida Panthers, Winnipeg Jets, and Tampa Bay Lightning tickets are all averaging in the $50 range. Washington Capitals tickets at PNC Arena are averaging the highest at $62 among divisional opponents despite being in last place of the Southeast. When the Canes play the Caps at home (2/26), the average ticket for "Sasha's Return" is $76, the cheapest remaining Washington Capitals game.
