Carolina Hurricanes News – 2013 Hurricanes Updates

With injuries to some key defensemen on the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team and a concussion to Jeff Skinner that has left him out indefinitely, the Canes look to several prospects to fill the void. Will Skinner return to full strength? Can Carolina return to its first Stanley Cup playoffs since the 2008-2009 season?

The Carolina Hurricanes signed Alexander ("Sasha") Semin in the 2012 offseason. Previously Semin had played for the Washington Capitals. His addition to the lineup with Jordan Staal has helped the Canes reach first place in the Division at various times of the 2013 season. On February 12, 2013 Alex scored his 200th career goal in a 6-4 win over the New York Islanders.

Cheap Hurricane tickets are available; each of the remaining games on the Carolina Hurricanes schedule has tickets for less than $20. Although the average Canes ticket is up $12 since the beginning of the season, the team's average is much lower than that of the Leagues. And, you'll pay about 25% less to watch the Hurricanes at home as opposed to on the road. Carolina Hurricanes tickets for Divisional matchups are amongst the cheapest of all remaining Hurricanes games. Florida Panthers, Winnipeg Jets, and Tampa Bay Lightning tickets are all averaging in the $50 range. Washington Capitals tickets at PNC Arena are averaging the highest at $62 among divisional opponents despite being in last place of the Southeast. When the Canes play the Caps at home (2/26), the average ticket for "Sasha's Return" is $76, the cheapest remaining Washington Capitals game.
