NHL – 2013 Updates
The NHL lockout significantly shortened the 2012–2013 NHL season. Each team will play 48 Conference games (no East-West matchups) and a large percentage of Divisional games. The 2013 NHL schedule began on January 19 and ends on April 27.
As a result of the limited number of tickets available during the shorter season, NHL tickets are more expensive than last year. Overall, NHL hockey tickets are up 8.5% from the 2011–2012 season; 21 of the 30 teams in the League saw an increase in their average ticket price. The Tampa Bay Lightning, Winnipeg Jets, St. Louis Blues, Edmonton Oilers, and Phoenix Coyotes saw the largest increase in average ticket prices. The Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks, Colorado Avalanche, Montreal Canadiens, and Anaheim Ducks saw the greatest decrease in average ticket prices.
The League's average hockey game tickets are $138; 17 of the 30 teams hold a home ticket price lower than that average. Interestingly, Los Angeles Kings tickets are averaging $98 per ticket; tickets to see the reigning Stanley Cup Champions are $40 less per ticket than the League average. The Anaheim Ducks have the least expensive average ticket price at $40. The Winnipeg Jets have the most expensive average ticket at $342.
NHL playoff tickets including Stanley Cup Playoff tickets and Stanley Cup Finals tickets are available on Razorgator. The 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs begin three days after the regular season ends. The 2013 Stanley Cup Finals will be the first time that Eastern and Western teams will meet during the shortened 2013 NHL season. Both the 2013 Winter Classic and All-Star game were canceled due to the lockout.
