St. Louis Rams 2013-14 News and Updates

2/13/14 – The St. Louis Rams decided not to retain DC Tim Walton and hired Gregg Williams (Tennessee) for a second time instead, a hire that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell praised. Williams was originally hired to coach Jeff Fisher’s defense back in 2012. On the offensive side, Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer who helped the Rams improve in scoring in each of his two seasons, is slated to be back with the team despite him interviewing for the Vanderbilt head-coaching position. QB Sam Bradford, who suffered from a torn ACL last season in Week 7, is expected back this season and appears to have the starting job. He’ll be surrounded by a young nucleus including break-out star Zac Stacy who ran for nearly 1,000 yards last season. Combined with the fact that the Rams have two of the top-13 pick in May’s NFL Draft, St. Louis is well-prepared for the 2014 season.

2013 Season

12/17/13 - The St. Louis Rams stunned the visiting New Orleans Saints and denied them a playoff berth (at least temporarily) on Sunday, overwhelming them 27-16. Robert Quinn utterly dominated on the line and shut down Drew Brees, with two sacks (leads the NFC), two forced fumbles and six tackles, prompting debate of awarding him defensive player of the year. The youngest team in the league has shown moments of brilliance in their season of inconsistency, manhandling playoff-caliber teams like the Colts and the Saints on any given Sunday and now they are successfully disrupting postseason hopefuls. This Sunday, the Rams are pitted against another NFC South opponent, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who are looking for a rebound. St. Louis Rams tickets are the second cheapest of the week, at just $50 on average and $12 to get into Edward Jones Dome.

12/10/13 - The St. Louis Rams dashed their playoff hopes with a decisive divisional loss to the Arizona Cardinals, 10-30, for their second straight disappointment on the road. Despite winning games before and after their bye, St. Louis has scored just 23 points with backup QB Kellen Clemens, while penalties perpetually stalled their revival. The Rams must now win-out their last three games in order to finish at the .500 mark for just the third time in the last ten seasons, this is a doable prospect with back-to-back games at home during the holiday season, but first, they welcome the imposing New Orleans Saints. St. Louis Rams tickets in the Edward Jones Dome are a moderate $20 to get in.

12/3/13 - The St. Louis Rams were crushed by the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, 13-23. Rams fans were underwhelmed by their team’s usually relentless rush defense, as the squad allowed Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis almost 200 yards combined, while Kellen Clemens was sacked thrice and threw one pick. The Rams must get help from faltering teams and win-out their season to gain contention again in the competitive NFC, so each week features a can’t-miss game! First up is a divisional match against the Arizona Cardinals, who are also fighting for a wildcard berth. St. Louis Rams tickets are just $100 on average at Arizona.

11/26/13 - The St. Louis Rams achieved a statement victory over the Chicago Bears last Sunday, scoring double the opposition’s points, with a final of 21-42. The Rams came up 424 in total yards, and had the run of the field, literally: even though Zac Stacy was pulled with concussion-like symptoms, rookie RB Benny Cunningham came in with a late score and Tavon Austin completed a 65-yard TD run. The game was hot, and a skirmish ensued near the sideline, featuring Bears’ Kyle Long and brother Rams’ Chris Long, who sprinted off the bench to drag his little (big) bro away from the fight, all while Hall of Famer dad Howie Long watched from afar. The Rams may have to run the table for a playoff berth, but seeing how heated this team is, no one will be counting them out anymore. St. Louis Rams tickets are some of the hottest of the week, at $251 on average and a $140 minimum, when they meet the rough and tumble San Francisco 49ers for a huge NFC West game.

11/19/13- The St. Louis Rams will return from their bye to face the Chicago Bears for a shot at finishing over .500 for the first time in nearly a decade. St. Louis won their last game, albeit against the Indianapolis Colts and Andrew Luck’s worst game of the season, but Jay Cutler is still ruled out due to injury in Week 12. A smart move, considering the Rams are 6th in the NFL for sacks. See how the Bears fare against the well-rested Rams, who will need to win all of their remaining games for a chance at playoffs. Rams tickets are a hot commodity, at $177 on average and $43 at the lowest.

11/11/13 - The St. Louis Rams lit up the Indianapolis Colts yesterday, crushing them 38-8 at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Rams quit their three game losing streak on Sunday, never letting up their early lead and hammering Andrew Luck in what was conceivably a career-worst game. Rookie receiver Tavon Austin had a breakout performance, returning a punt 98 yards for a TD 12 seconds into the game, finishing with two more TD receptions and 314 all-purpose yards. After their comeback game, all are eager to see how the Rams fare against the Chicago Bears when they return from their bye on November 24.

11/5/13 - The St. Louis Rams are now at the bottom of the NFC West with their most recent loss dealt by the Tennessee Titans, 28-21. Notwithstanding the loss, rookie Zac Stacy had a winning game, becoming the workhorse of St. Louis offense, playing another solid game, with 27 rushing attempts for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns. Despite a spotty performance (including a game-losing turnover), Kellen Clemens will try his hand against Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday. Moving forward, the Rams' schedule will not leave any more room for error, as the Colts, Bears, Seahawks, Saints and 49ers are looming on the horizon. St. Louis Rams tickets are only $9 to get-in and $123 on average at Lucas Oil Stadium this week.

10/29/13 - St. Louis was buzzing Monday night, because for the first time, a city simultaneously hosted both an NFL game and a World Series match. Unfortunately both home teams lost, as the Rams fell to the Seattle Seahawks, 14-9 on MNF. St. Louis certainly kept the Hawks in check: the defensive duo of Robert Quinn and Chris Long sacked Wilson 6 times and starting backup QB Kellen Clemens nearly snagged a major upset victory on the goal line in the last seconds of the game. Running back Zac Stacy has emerged as a force on the field, carrying 24 for 348 yards on Sunday, and he is sure to continue to have a big impact moving forward. The Rams will host the Tennessee Titans in Week 9; tickets are the cheapest in the league, at a mere $10 to get in and $65 on average.

10/22/13 - The St. Louis Rams are another team to have come out of a brutal Week 7 with a heartbreaking major injury. The Rams lost more than just a game when they were drilled by the Carolina Panthers, who outscored them 30-15, in a heated matchup that erupted in a third quarter scuffle, resulting in the ejection of defensive end Chris Long. Starting QB Sam Bradford, the former No.1 pick who was on course to having a career-best year, sustained a season-ending torn ACL after being propelled toward the sideline by Mike Mitchell. Now, the Rams are left scrambling, looking for a prospect to fill the position, first bringing in Kellen Clemens as a backup, and just acquiring former Seahawk Brady Quinn to the roster. Next week, the Rams will host the Seattle Seahawks, who will give their already hurting offense a tough time: St. Louis Rams tickets for next Sunday offer the lowest average price of the week in the NFL, at a mere $65.

10/16/13 - The St. Louis Rams routed the Houston Texans on Sunday’s game in Reliant Stadium for their second straight win. Finally some blood is pumping through the veins of this team, starting with quarterback Sam Bradford, who completed three touchdown passes and threw 12 for 16. The defense picked off backup QB T.J. Yates who came in for Matt Schaub after an ankle injury, and the Rams continued to capitalize on the Texan’s mistakes, coming up 38-13. With two consecutive wins, the Rams will be looking for their third against the Carolina Panthers in Week 7. St. Louis Rams tickets at Bank of America Stadium start at a modest $21 and average $87.

10/8/13 - The Rams ended their three game losing streak with a 34-20 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Edward Jones Dome. Rams’ quarterback Sam Bradford cleaned up his game, throwing three touchdowns passes and zero interceptions for 222 yards, as he helped his team improve to 3-2 this week. The Rams will travel to Reliant Stadium with a chance to show some progress when they go head to head against the 3-2 Houston Texans on Sunday. St. Louis Rams tickets on the road are priced at a moderate $35 to get in.

9/30/13 - The St. Louis Rams are sitting with 298 yards lost through just six quarters, and are now a 1-3 team after Thursday night’s at-home defeat by the San Francisco 49ers. Managing just 18 yards on 19 carries, the Ram’s offense did not come out to play. Despite taking the early lead on San Francisco, quarterback Sam Bradford was less than extraordinary finishing his night of inaccurate throws 19 for 41. The St. Louis Rams have a long week to rejuvenate themselves and come back with a victory at Edward Jones Dome against the winless Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday October 6. Fans wont have to pay much to watch the Rams dig themselves out of their win deficit: St. Louis Rams tickets are expectedly the second cheapest of the week, a mere $8 to get in, and $49 on average.

9/25/13 - The Rams will be hoping to overcome their two game losing slump, and find victory over the faltering San Francisco 49ers when they play at home in St. Louis this Sunday. Quarterback Sam Bradford, who is throwing 651 yards through three games, needs to be given better opportunities. Both San Francisco and St. Louis are coming off tough Week 3 losses and will be looking to bounce back. The Rams and 49ers matchup has the lowest ticket price for NFL Sunday, averaging $66 a seat and just $9 to get in.

St. Louis Rams 2014 Season

2013 Season

Last year was a building year for the St. Louis Rams. Improvement is what coaches and fans saw – Sam Bradford, Jo-Lonn Dunbar, and Robert Quinn all had career high numbers and the Rams went undefeated against the NFC’s top team and division rival, San Francisco 49ers. In 2013, the St. Louis Rams have a realistic chance to return to the NFL Playoffs for the first time since 2004. A familiarity with the coaching staff should help, in addition to a more confident QB and WR Chris Givens. St. Louis most recently signed all seven of its draft choices which include WR Tavon Austin.
