Minnesota Vikings 2014 News and Updates
2/12/14 – New offensive coordinator Norv Turner has big plans for Adrian Peterson after he returns from groin surgery. The RB missed two of the Vikings final three games last season due to the issue and a sprained foot, in addition to the Pro Bowl. Turner has also voiced the want for a young QB after Minnesota’s last place finish in the NFC North behind Matt Cassell, Christian Ponder, and Josh Freeman. In 2013, the Minnesota Vikings did not win a single road game. In 2014, the Vikings need to rack up some away wins, as winning at home will be a more of a challenge. Minnesota will play the next two seasons outdoors at the University of Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium while the team’s new stadium is built at the Metrodome site.
12/16/13 - The Minnesota Vikings put the Philadelphia Eagles' postseason hopes in serious jeopardy, crushing them 48-30 on Sunday. The Vikes nailed an impressive at-home victory, even with the absence of their top two tight ends, top three corners, and running backs Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart. Matt Cassel stepped up and made 3 touchdowns for 382 yards (the most by a Viking’s QB since the days of Brett Favre), while third stringer Matt Asiata rushed for 3 TDs (the first of his career) and Greg Jennings caught a career-high 11 passes. Minnesota Vikings tickets are just $15 to get in and see if they can topple the Cincinnati Bengals off the AFC North summit.
12/9/13 - The Minnesota Vikings fell to the Baltimore Ravens, 26-29, despite some nail-biting fourth quarter action on the snow-packed Sunday. Adrian Peterson, the NFL’s leading rusher and lifeline of the team, was carted off the field with a foot injury in the second quarter—but don’t worry Minnesota fans, the sidelined running back appears to have borne just a minor sprain. Next week, the Vikes are looking to set the Philadelphia Eagles tumbling, after yesterday's dramatic victory over Detroit gave them the NFC East lead. Minnesota Vikings tickets are just $24 to get into the Metrodome and away from the blistering cold in Week 15.
12/3/13- In a bench-gripping, back-and-forth game between NFC north foes, Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Vikings, the Vikes won it in overtime, 23-20. The Vikings maximized on Chicago’s weak rush defense (ranked last in the league), as Adrian Peterson carried the ball 35 times for a massive 211-yard day (that’s over 100 yards in 4 straight games), making him the third quickest RB in history to break 10,000 yards. The running back also got the team in position for Blair Walsh to kick a 34-yard field goal to seal the OT win. Minnesota Vikings tickets feature one of the lowest starting prices of the week, at $28 and $152 on average when they travel to Baltimore to face the Ravens.
11/26/13 - The Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers finished Sunday's hard-fought game with the only ending that would suffice: a draw. Christian Ponder and Cordarrelle Patterson were working in tight cohesion and the Vikings defense did what they could to stop Matt Flynn who sparked the Packers, but neither division opponent could put up more points than field goals in overtime, and the NFC North situation is left stickier than before. The Vikings have the opportunity to pull themselves up in the division this week, pitted against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, so don't miss this pivotal match-up in the North! Minnesota Vikings tickets are $48 to bundle up and get in.
11/19/13- The Minnesota Vikings could not keep up with the dominating Seattle Seahawks and were routed, 20-41, in CenturyLink Field. After Sunday afternoon, the Vikings hold the second worst record in the league. Christian Ponder did little to inspire in his start, and the Vikings may be compelled to put Josh Freeman or Matt Cassel back in position. Minnesota has the opportunity win next week, when they face the Green Bay Packers and Scott Tolzien, not Aaron Rodgers, on Sunday. Minnesota Vikings tickets are $176 on average.
11/12/13 - The Minnesota Vikings will come off their long weekend with the memory of Thursday’s inspired performance fresh on their minds. The Vikings defeated the Washington Redskins in Week 10, due to valorous performances by Christian Ponder (throwing 17 of 21 for 174 yards, 2 TDs and one interception) who left with a dislocated shoulder, and Adrian Peterson, who may be poised for a comeback after running 75 yards for 2 TDs. See what the boys can put up against the Seattle Seahawks in enemy territory in Week 11: Minnesota Viking tickets are a hot commodity, at $293 on average.
11/4/13 - The Minnesota Vikings were unable to overcome the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, losing 23-27. In a game that was closer than some anticipated, Tony Romo and Dwayne Harris stole the victory with 44 seconds left in the fourth quarter, for a game-winning touchdown drive. On the Vikings, Adrian Peterson was in beast mode, running for 140 yards on 25 carries, taking three defenders with him into the end zone, refusing to be stopped in the fourth quarter. Despite a valiant effort from Christian Ponder who threw for 236 yards, the Vikings now find themselves at 1-7, mimicking their worst start in franchise history. For Week 10, the Vikings will host the Washington Redskins hot off the heels of the victory over San Diego yesterday. Minnesota Vikings tickets are only $4 to get in, the cheapest price of the week!
10/28/13 - The Minnesota Vikings played a valiant game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, but ultimately fell 44-31, extending their losing record to 1-6. The Vikings’ Cordarrelle Patterson showed his worth as one of the best kickoff returners in the NFL, with a record setting 109-yard return for a touchdown—he is now tied with Percy Harvin for the most kickoff returns for a TD (2). Adrian Peterson attempted to pick up the offense, with his 8-yard touchdown run, but the defense was outmatched by Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson and Eddie Lacy. Coach Frazier has yet to name a starter for Minnesota’s upcoming game against the Dallas Cowboys, and at this point, the three options (Josh Freeman, Christian Ponder, Matt Cassel) present pretty grim pickins’. Minnesota Vikings tickets for this Sunday at AT&T Stadium are $236 on average.
10/22/13 - The Minnesota Vikings were unable to prolong Eli Manning’s winless streak, and fell to the New York Giants 7-23 on Monday Night Football. Leslie Frazer made the erroneous decision to start Josh Freeman, after being acquired just two weeks ago, and essentially threw him to the wolves last night without ample enough time to learn a new playbook. This resulted in a free for all, and a pitiful picking apart of Freeman, who was clearly uncomfortable and out of sync with his team members, overshooting receivers and constantly getting rammed into the ground by the New York’s pass rush, finishing with a meager 20 of 53 passes for 190 yards. Not even Adrian Peterson could pull Minnesota out of the wreckage, as he finished with a lowly atypical 28 yards rushing. The Vikings will head back home to face the Green Bay Packers next Sunday, hopefully with renewed vigor. Minnesota Vikings tickets at the Metrodome are one of the higher priced games of the week despite their poor MNF showing-everyone is clearly eager to see what they will do next- at $194 on average.
10/15/13 - Although the Minnesota Vikings were looking hopeful after their win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in England, the team has sustained another demoralizing loss, this time, to the Carolina Panthers (10-35). It is clear that the Vikings have some restructuring to do in the quarterback position: Matt Cassel will conceivably become a backup QB after Sunday’s costly 2-interception performance, and now former-starter Christian Ponder and newly acquired Josh Freeman will duke it out for the starting position. Adrian Peterson decided to play despite a heavy heart, just two days after the death of his two-year old son from an alleged beating, and the star running back was hounded by the Panthers, rushing just 62 yards, finishing with his second lowest number of the season. The Minnesota Vikings will have to reorganize themselves and gain some composure to insure an on-the-road victory in Week 7 over the eager New York Giants. Minnesota Vikings tickets in New York are $24 to get in and $177 on average.
10/8/13 - The Minnesota Vikings will be coming out of a bye week to host the Carolina Panthers next Sunday. The Vikings enjoyed their time off after attaining a must-win victory overseas against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the staff has also made some moves in the line up: Minnesota has now signed quarterback Josh Freeman from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a one-year $3 million deal. He is now in the mix with starter Christian Ponder, nursing sidelining rib injury, and backup QB Matt Cassel, who despite the recent acquirement, may still start hot off the heels of his victory over the Steelers, completing 16 of 25 throws and zero interceptions. With three quarterbacks to choose from, the Minnesota Vikings are desperate to turn their season around as they prepare to face a struggling Cam Newton and company. Minnesota Vikings tickets against the Carolina Panthers are moderately priced, averaging $208 and $33 to get in.
10/1/13 - The New York Giants are enduring a blistering season, with their most recent battering sustained in Kansas City, losing 7-31 to the Chiefs. They are amongst the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the three worst teams in the NFL, with a minus-85 scoring differential. The New York Giants have to come out swinging if they want to climb up from the bottom of the barrel, and there may yet be life in the team, who is averaged 4.7 yards per carry against the Chiefs and running back Jamaal Charles and receivers Dwayne Bowe and Donnie Avery combined 53 yards in the first half. They will get their chance in Week 5 against worthy opponents the Philadelphia Eagles in New Jersey. Despite their worst start to the season in 25 years, New York Giants tickets are still a hot commodity, with the third highest average ticket price of Week 5 at $375.
9/24/13 - The Vikings are not having a great start to the 2013 season. Even with the best running back in the league, Adrian Peterson, problems with the defense giving up 409 yards, and the three game suspension of fullback Jerome Felton have proven difficult for Minnesota to overcome. Quarterback Christian Ponder, was booed numerous times at home on Sunday, and went 25 for 42 passes for 228 yards, and was sacked six times against the Cleveland Browns. At this point, the 0-3 Minnesota Vikings are desperate for a win, as they have consecutively lost games due to last-minute touchdowns. The opportunity to pick their season up will be across the pond in London against the also 0-3, Pittsburgh Steelers.
Minnesota Vikings 2014 Season
The Vikings hope to build on last season's campaign that saw them earn an NFL Playoffs
berth, but lose in the Wild Card rounds to the rival Green Bay Packers
. After impressively returning from a torn ACL and falling just short of the NFL single season rushing record last season, Adrian Peterson has vowed to come back stronger in 2013. Peterson is joined in the backfield by quarterback Christian Ponder, who hopes to make strides in his third professional season. The Vikings will also expect major contributions from free agent acquisition and longtime Packer receiver Greg Jennings, who will replace the traded Percy Harvin. Vikings tickets this season at the Metrodome
are averaging $155, 20th highest in the league and 28% under league average.

The average Browns vs. Vikings tickets price is $118, second-lowest of any Vikings home game this season, ahead of the Carolina Panthers in Week 6 at $117.
