Kansas City Chiefs 2014 News and Updates
12/17/14 - With their 31-13 win over Oakland last weekend, the Kansas City chiefs re-inserted themselves into the AFC postseason conversation. Currently tied for second in the AFC West, the Chiefs face a pair of difficult games ahead, on the road against Pittsburgh and their home finale against San Diego, who is also looking for a playoff berth.
12/10/14 - It’s rematch weekend for the Kansas City Chiefs, who host Oakland this weekend hoping to gain a little revenge for the then-winless Raiders snapping the Chiefs’ five-game winning streak. Since the loss to Oakland, the Chiefs have yet to get back to winning, dropping the next two after the Raider loss.
12/3/14 - After reeling off seven wins in their last eight games – and five straight after a bye – the Kansas City Chiefs find themselves going backwards. Since knocking off Seattle in Week 11, the Chiefs have dropped contests to the bottom (Oakland) and top (Denver) of the AFC West.
11/19/14 - The Kansas City Chiefs are riding the wave of a five game winning streak, the second longest current win streak in the NFL right now; only New England’s six game skein is longer. The Chiefs face divisional rival – and winless – Oakland this weekend.
11/12/14 - The Kansas City chiefs will put their four game winning streak on the line this weekend when they take on the defending Super Bowl champs from Seattle at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs are just a game behind Denver despite being dead last in the NFL in passing yards per game.
10/29/14 - After a dominant victory against the St. Louis Rams last Sunday, which ended with a final score of 34-7, the Kansas City Chiefs brought their overall record to 4-3. Their quarterback, Alex Smith, went on to throw for 223 yards, and Jamaal Charles went on to rush for 67 yards and had two touchdowns. This is the sixth straight time they have defeated their cross-state rivals, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. The Rams just couldn’t keep up with the Chiefs, as their defensive backfield was pretty depleted. Next week, the Chiefs will be taking on the New York Jets, a game that is a must-win for them. The Jets have not looked good in the AFC East, sporting a record of 1-7. The Chiefs will be looking to put it on them early, both with their running and passing attack. Tickets are still available for next week’s game, with tickets starting as low as $17.
10/10/14 - Come out to Arrowhead Stadium to cheer on your Kansas City Chiefs as they try to stay in the hunt for the AFC West crown and a second consecutive playoff berth. Led by veteran QB Alex Smith, the Chiefs are a hungry young squad with championship aspirations, looking to build on last year’s successes. Running back Jamaal Charles needs only 53 yards to pass the legendary Priest Holmes as the franchise’s all-time leading rusher. Perhaps it will happen on October 19th, when the St. Louis Rams come to town. Make sure that you don’t miss a moment of action from your Kansas City Chiefs. With tickets starting as low as $23, and games against such marquee teams as the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos, Razorgator is your best ticket to get to the game.
9/16/14 - The Kansas City Chiefs are doing a poor job of imitating last year’s campaign right out of the NFL gate. The Chiefs are now 0-2 on the season, with one game lost to Tennessee and the other to Denver. While the effort KC put up in their 24-17 defeat by the Broncos was valiant, players and fans alike couldn’t help but feel disheartened after the game yielded injuries to two star players. Both Jamaal Charles and Eric Berry left the game with ankle injuries and did not return; luckily, they are merely sprains, and both should be back in action soon. The Chiefs will take on the Dolphins this week in what should be a very interesting matchup. Score Kansas City Chiefs tickets at Miami this Sunday for a minimum of $19.
9/9/14 - The Kansas City Chiefs were stunned in their home opener on Sunday, falling to the visiting Tennessee Titans 26-10. A number of things, from injury to poor play calling and missed opportunities spoiled their first game of the year, but the KC team is amped up at the prospect of winning their first game of the year over bitter foes, the Denver Broncos. They’ll have to do so without two of their front seven starters including Derrick Johnson and Mike DeVito (ruptured Achilles tendons). Score Kansas City at Denver tickets and see Alex Smith and his wrecking crew wake up for their Week 2 bout at Mile High. The get-in price for this AFC showdown starts at $95 in the Upper Level.
9/3/14 - Football is back! There’s just a few more days until the Kansas City Chiefs welcome the Titans to Arrowhead Stadium for Sunday’s season opener. This will be KC’s first step towards another postseason berth, but they’ll have to do so without two integral starters in WR Dwayne Bowe and RT Donald Stephenson. These two should be well covered with replacements Frankie Hammond and Jeff Allen—not to mention, Alex Smith will be determined to prove he’s worth his big-money paycheck. Buy your Kansas City Chiefs tickets now and welcome football back to Missouri!
8/27/14 - The Kansas City Chiefs fell victim to some bad luck through the preseason and are now scrambling to repair a major hole left by injury. 8/12/14 – The Kansas City Chiefs were very impressive in last week’s exhilarating preseason opener against Cincinnati. Most notably, rookie De’Anthony Thomas solidified his fan-favorite standing with an incredible 80-yard punt return for a touchdown, while tight end Travis Kelce caught a 69-yard TD pass from back-up Chase Daniel in the wild 41-39 win. Now, KC is grinding out their last week of training camp in St. Joseph before returning to Arrowhead. Ryan Succop (groin) was absent for his fourth straight practice, while Eric Berry (heel) left the field early due to injury. 7/29/14 – Kansas City Chiefs fans, you no longer have to worry whether Jamaal “Mr. Everything” Charles has a long future in Missouri. Not only did the running back express desire to age gracefully, like Peyton Manning, in KC, but news broke last week that Charles received his payday, inking a two-year extension. The Chiefs offered a contract worth $18.1 million with an extra $5M over the next two years—which ranks Jamaal Charles in the top-five highest-paid NFL running backs. The talented athlete played for KC for far below his market value, and if he stays consistent, this Renaissance Man will be worth every penny awarded on his new contract. Buy your Kansas City Chiefs tickets and see your franchise player light up the field in 2014.
7/22/14 – Veteran Kansas City Chiefs players are due to report for training camp tomorrow, and the position battles will officially commence. Rookies and quarterbacks have already reported to St. Joseph for practice looking to secure their spot on the 53-man roster. The biggest job competitions include Succop vs. Santos at kicker, Bray vs. Murray at backup QB, Parker vs. Cooper at corner, Kelce vs. Harris at tight end and Avery vs. Jenkins at wide receiver, among many others. Score Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs tickets and see which players are willing to give it their all to win their position battle. Get-in for as low as $1 to sit the stands during Week 1 of preseason and usher in the 2014 football season with KC.
7/16/14 – The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for the start of training camp next week. On July 24, the players will hit practice in an effort to prepare for the seventh toughest NFL schedule of 2014—one that essentially removed NFC East teams with a barrage of foes from the NFC West. This 360-degree turn from last year’s soft schedule should serve as a wakeup call to the members who didn’t leave in free agency. Get your Kansas City Chiefs tickets now and see if the Arrowhead Pride can get hit the ground running like they did a year ago.
7/9/14 – The Kansas City Chiefs always promise a hard-fought nail-biter from both sides of the ball, but this year Jamaal Charles will be a chief storyline to follow. Of course, this team leader will always have eyes on him, but Charles is heading into the 2014 season all-but guaranteed to become KC's all-time rusher. Jamaal Charles has 5, 823 career yards, which is just 247 yards behind the franchise's current record-holder Priest Holmes (6,070). The running back may well reach his goal by Week 3 of the regular season when KC visits Miami. Score Kansas City Chiefs for this game against the Dolphins at a $23 minimum (9/21).
7/2/14 – If you’ve been keeping up with the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason, you know that there’s been a significant player missing at outside linebacker. Justin Houston’s hold out should be resolved with the start of training camp in a few weeks. The highly skilled OL is still on the final year of his rookie deal of $1.4 million, and his representatives are likely in talks with GM John Dorsey. There’s no reason to worry about his extended absence, as a deal is sure to be reached, the only question is when. Houston should be back in training camp to warm up and avoid injury during preseason. Score Kansas City Chiefs tickets and see your stalwart OL line up this summer.
6/25/14 – We already know the Kansas City Chiefs are a heavy-hitting team, but do you know just how heavy? The numbers have been crunched on NFL teams with the heftiest front sevens, and your KC Chiefs came in at number three overall. With an average weight of 280 pounds, that’s puts them up one spot since last season, giving competitors even more reason to fear facing the war-painted pack. Kansas City’s training schedule came out last week, revealing their first day back from break is July 24. With the start of preseason less than one month away, hurry and lock-in your Kansas City Chiefs tickets!
6/18/14 – After shocking all with the release of cornerback, Brandon Flowers, the Kansas City Chiefs moved on to commence the final phase of offseason: mandatory minicamp. Making a huge statement was rookie outside linebacker Dee Ford—taking the spot of holdout Justin Houston—hustled his way up to first string in all situations on Day 1 of minicamp. Another rookie didn’t fare as well: fourth-rounder De’Anthony Thomas fell victim to the stifling Kansas City heat in his first practice since rookie minicamp. The running back missed all OTAs in order to complete his finals at Oregon, but made an excellent showing as slot receiver before taking a break in the 90-degree weather. See if these bright young rookies can continue their hot streak this summer with Kansas City Chiefs tickets!
6/10/14- The final week of OTAs are here, which means the Kansas City Chiefs have one more set of practice before going on break. KC fans will gladly note that first-round pick Dee Ford, along with his defensive teammates, has been stellar in practice, adding talented ammunition to the Chiefs’ pass-rushing squad. In less fortunate news, Chiefs’ cornerback Sean Smith was taken into custody early this morning, cited for drunk driving and his return is pending. Still, with the next installment of minicamps being mandatory, Chiefs nation can finally get a look at some absent players, namely Brandon Flowers and Justin Houston starting June 17. Score Kansas City Chiefs tickets and see the full team hit the gridiron come summertime!
6/3/14 - Players around the league should take head from Kansas City Chiefs' Tamba Hali. While the rest of the team heads back to the locker-room, the veteran linebacker has regularly put in evening hours of training, "just to stay on top of things," over the last eight summer camps. This kind of work ethic is treasured in the NFL, and shows just how spirited the Chiefs gang is! Be there as this team reaps rewards for their hard work with 2014 Kansas City Chiefs tickets!
5/28/14 - Unlike other teams around the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs are lacking in dramatic position showdowns or serious contract negotiations. QB Alex Smith is in the midst of a long-term agreement and the Chiefs just signed their top pick Dee Ford. With most of their business done, and contracts out of the way/non-imminent, the team can focus on being the best they can be at the start of spring training. As their rookie linebacker succinctly expressed, "I hate the business. I just want to play football." We want to see you play too, Ford! Watch the first-rounder and others hit the field and do what they do best with Kansas City Chiefs tickets!
5/20/14 - The Kansas City Chiefs lacked funds to make huge moves at the start of free agency, but are now cashing in on the better-value options, snagging five players off the market last week. After being cut by the Bears, free agent offensive tackle J'Marcus Webb was picked up by Kansas City to fill out a line that will miss 2013's integral players. The Chiefs also added much-needed experience to the defensive lineup, inking a deal with four-year veteran Kyle Love. Kansas City Chiefs' rookie outside linebacker Dee Ford made headlines in an interview with the assertion that he was a better player than (No. 1 overall pick) Jadeveon Clowney. This confidence caught the attention of the Chiefs and was a key motive in securing the pass rusher. Score Kansas City Chiefs tickets and see if Ford proves the public right in 2014!
5/14/14 - The Chiefs got some variety in their picks and seem to be happy with their 1st pick, Dee Ford the defensive end from Auburn as well as running back De’Anthony Thomas from Oregon in the 4th round. Curiously, they went for Georgia QB Aaron Murray in the 5th round.
4/17/14 - The Kansas City Chiefs' preseason schedule is set, and will kick off at home versus the Cincinnati Bengals. The Chiefs will travel to Carolina in Week 2 for a nationally televised Sunday Night matchup against the Panthers. In Week 3 they'll play host to the Minnesota Vikings, and in Week 4 they'll visit Lambeau Field to face Green Bay in their fifth consecutive exhibition finale. Last season, in Andy Reid's first year as head coach, KC went 2-2 in the preseason before dominating early on in the regular season. Kansas City Chiefs tickets for their Sunday, Aug 17 game in Charlotte start at $18 in the Upper Level.
2/13/14 – Alex Smith is one of the best when it comes to keeping plays alive; the quarterback scrambled for an impressive 431 years this season and only threw seven interceptions. It is likely that the Chiefs will extend the former No.1 overall pick’s (2004) contract after leading KC to an 11-5 season. This, after having the worst record in the NFL one season before at 2-14. Kansas City was one of three teams in the AFC West to make the NFL Playoffs last year which makes for a tough 2014 schedule. In addition, the Chiefs will play the NFC West teams which include Super Bowl Champions Seattle Seahawks and NFC title game participants San Francisco 49ers. KC Chiefs fans will appreciate the difficult home schedule as they’ll get the chance to witness elite football at Arrowhead Stadium. The Seahawks, Broncos, Patriots, and Jets are four of the eight teams the Chiefs will host at home.
12/30/13 - Sitting all but two of their starters in yesterday’s game, the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the San Diego Chargers, 24-27, in overtime. Though the game held no impact on the Chiefs’ playoff chances (having already guaranteed a berth), had the officials not botched Ryan Succop’s missed field goal re-try, the San Diego Chargers would have been eliminated from Wild Card contention and the Pittsburgh Steelers would have taken the No. 6 seed. Moving forward, the Chiefs are pitted against the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of playoffs, a big AFC rematch, after KC lost to Andrew Luck and company just one week ago. With most of their starters rested, including weapons Alex Smith and Jamaal Charles, the Chiefs will see these game-changers return Saturday, January 4 for the first game of Wild Card weekend. Kansas City Chiefs playoff tickets start at just $66 and average at $501 to kickoff postseason in Indianapolis.
12/23/13 - The Kansas City Chiefs were decimated by the visiting Indianapolis Colts, 23-7, Sunday morning. The Chiefs were messy in their third loss to a playoff assured team: they committed a season-high 4 turnovers (three at the hands of Alex Smith) and the usually stalwart defense was caught flat-footed. The loss didn’t hurt KC’s playoff chances because they are already locked into the No. 5 seed, but the rout certainly hurt morale, as the Chiefs are looking at a possible playoff rematch with the Colts in the Wild Card Round. Next week, the Chiefs will take on the hungry San Diego Chargers playing with their season on the line. Kansas City Chiefs tickets are $167 to see them finish their impressive regular season run.
12/17/13 - The Kansas City Chiefs have made it to the playoffs! Not only did the Chiefs silence cynics of Alex Smith and company’s offensive woes by scoring the most points against the Oakland Raiders in NFL history (including 5 touchdowns by Jamaal Charles), but with their 56-31 Sunday rout, KC is tied with Denver for first place in the AFC and secured at least a wild card berth. Next week they will play another guaranteed playoff contender, the Indianapolis Colts at Arrowhead Stadium. Kansas City Chiefs tickets are just $67 on average and $7 to get in for this week's wild card playoff round preview!
12/10/13 - Kansas City sports fans are feeling great after their winning weekend: Sporting KC clinched the MLS Cup Saturday and the Kansas City Chiefs routed the Washington Redskins, 45-10, a day later. The Chiefs snapped their three-game losing skid by embarrassing RG3 and company on home turf; KC scored on their first four possessions and sacked the QB 5 times, while special teams was dynamic, scoring on a punt and kickoff return. The Chief’s fearful reputation has been restored with the squad back to intimidating postseason hopefuls, and in Week 15 they look to dominate the Raiders in Oakland. Kansas City Chiefs tickets fare at $96 on average and $42 to start in fairer West coast weather.
12/3/13 - The Kansas City Chiefs' season is sliding, having been handed their third straight loss and a season sweep by the Denver Broncos on Sunday, losing 35-28. Though they still own one of the best records (9-3), the Chief’s late-season slump has granted the Broncos the No.1 seed in the AFC and KC stands 1 ½ games behind them in the West. Despite the loss, Jamaal Charles was flawless, accruing over 1,000 rushing yards in four straight seasons after the Broncos match. Watch-out now! The Chiefs will be hungry for redemption and back-to-back wins on their 2-game road trip, first pitted against the Washington Redskins. Kansas City Chiefs tickets are a deal this week, with a get-in price of only $5!
11/26/13 - The Kansas City Chiefs suffered their second straight loss of the season, falling to the San Diego Chargers in a stunning 41-38 upset at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chargers brought their A-game and held strong against the notoriously tough KC defense, rallying for 17-points in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs put up their most points all season, with Alex Smith throwing for 292 yards and 3 TDs, but the entire KC nation was shocked by Philip Rivers’ game-winning TD pass with 24 seconds left. The Chiefs will try and brush off the last two weeks before facing Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos, who will be hungry for a win after being unceremoniously deposed by Tom Brady and the Patriots on Sunday. Kansas City Chiefs tickets when they host the Broncos are going fast, at $207 on average.
11/19/13- In Sunday’s AFC showdown, #1 Chiefs defense fell to the #1Broncos offense for Kansas City’s first loss of the season (17-27). The usually sack-happy defense could not penetrate the Bronco’s O-line and the Chiefs recorded zero hits on Peyton Manning. KC’s weakness lies in the offense, which is ill-equipped to play catch-up football after falling behind early, ultimately putting their 9 game winning streak to an end. The Chiefs will have their chance to avenge defeat in two weeks, but first, KC must play the San Diego Chargers this Sunday (while the Broncos visit the Patriots). Kansas City Chiefs tickets are considerably cheaper this week against the Chargers—just $36 to get in!
11/12/13 - Still undefeated, Kansas City will look to extend their reign in the AFC come Sunday, in one of the biggest games of the season. In Week 11, the Chiefs travel to Denver to go head to head against the 8-1 Broncos, a team many believe to better than KC regardless of what the record says. Can the Chiefs finally silence the naysayers and put to rest doubts on their season? Will their stalwart defense be able to stifle Peyton Manning? It seems everyone wants to find out, as Kansas City Chiefs tickets are the most in demand of Week 11, at $463 on average and a pricey $213 minimum.
11/5/13 - The Chiefs have done it again, to extend their perfect season to 9-0, following their 23-13 victory over the Buffalo Bills. A squad that is certainly more reliable, the Chiefs defense was routed (except for cornerback Sean Smith's incredible 100-yard pick six dash) being outgained 470 to 210 yards on Sunday. KC offense was discreet, as characteristic: Alex Smith has yet to throw a TD pass in four of the last five games, and the Chiefs are the 16th ranked offense in the league with 23.9 points per game, compared to the Denver Broncos’ 42.9 points, who they will meet next. For now, the Chiefs are on their bye, but they will come back eager to play the AFC West leaders next Sunday at Mile High. If they do defeat Peyton Manning and company, the naysayers will undeniably be silenced—you won’t want to miss it!
10/29/13 - The Chiefs move to 8-0, with their most recent defeat of the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, 23-17. KC’s defense again proved that they are at the heart of this game-winning machine: having allowed just 12.3 points per game, and leading the NFL in sacks and turnovers. New starter Jason Campbell gave the Chiefs a bit of a run, as the defense struggled to maintain their pass rush, but Alex Smith and company never faltered after putting up 20 points in the first half. The Chiefs have yet to play a winning team this season, but that will change at the midway point: KC is set to play the Colts, Broncos and Chargers. For Week 9, the Chiefs will venture to Buffalo to take on the Bills, reeling from their loss to the Saints on Sunday. Kansas City Chiefs tickets are a moderately priced $101 on average.
10/22/13 - Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs have outlasted all other teams to remain 7-0 on the season, boasting the only undefeated record left of 2013. With their 17-16 triumph over the Houston Texans, Kansas City is the first team in NFL history to start a season 7-0 after having the worst record in the previous season. Sunday’s game went down to the wire, as the Chiefs scooted past the Texans with a punt at 2 minutes left and afterwards letting the time run out on the clock. Consistent performances from a most dominant defense, solid running back Jamaal Charles (123 yards), and a tough Alex Smith (just 4 interceptions on the season) at the helm, the Chiefs have proven they are the real deal. Blessed with a relatively easy schedule, the Chiefs will, in all likelihood, extend their win streak over the next two weeks as they are set to play the Browns and then the Buffalo Bills. For Week 8, Kansas City Chiefs tickets average $110 when they host the Cleveland Browns--a reasonable price to see the only flawless team left standing in the league. The average price of Chiefs tickets for remaining home games are up 81% since the beginning of the season; their success on the field has led to the surge in price and is the biggest jump of any team in the NFL.
10/16/13 - The Kansas City Chiefs achieved one of the only home-team victories in Week 6. Alex Smith and company hammered the Oakland Raiders and improve their record to 6-0 on their undefeated season. They are now one of two teams left in the NFL who have maintained a perfect record, the other being the Denver Broncos, who are also from the AFC West and simultaneously tied at the top. The Chiefs’ schedule will present even more opportunities for triumph in upcoming weeks, as they turn to the Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns and the Buffalo Bills in subsequent games. In Sunday’s game, defense was the name of the game, the Chiefs amounted 10 sacks on Raiders quarterback Terrell Pryor, barely giving Oakland's offense a chance at scoring in the second half with constant unflanking pressure down the middle. Chiefs fans at Arrowhead Stadium broke the Guinness World Record for the loudest stadium in the world, at 137.5 decibels, and the thunderous crowd will next host the reeling Houston Texans in Week 7. Kansas City Chiefs tickets are at moderate $117 on average, and $43 to get in.
10/8/13 - Alex Smith and the Kansas City chiefs came out on top in Sunday’s match up against the Tennessee Titans in a 26-17 on the road victory. Kansas City nearly blew their 13-0 halftime lead, but Jamaal Charles’ 1-yard touchdown rush in the fourth quarter secured the Chiefs’ rally to beat the Jake Locker-less Titans. Despite racking up an enormous collection of penalties, the Chiefs’ defense was effective against Ryan Fitzpatrick, making two interceptions on the backup quarterback. The red-hot Chiefs are 5-0 to begin the season and tied for first place in the AFC West with the Denver Broncos. Now with their best start since 2003, the Chiefs will be heading home for three straight games, and will begin their homestay facing off against the Oakland Raiders. Kansas City Chiefs tickets for this Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium are a reasonable $47 to get in.
10/1/13 - Kansas City Chiefs remain undefeated after obliterating the sinking New York Giants on Sunday 31-7. Kansas City had a huge morale boosting game, with a great performance by their consistently steadfast defense, third in the league for fewest yards given up per drive. The game also featured a strong showing offensively, quarterback Alex Smith threw three touchdown passes and Dexter McCluster scored a dazzling touchdown punt return, blazing down the field for 89 yards, and ending his run with an imitation of Giant’s receiver Victor Cruz’s signature salsa dance. Hoping to keep their spot as playoff contenders, the Chiefs will be looking to defeat the Tennessee Titans, whose only loss happened in overtime against the Houston Texans in Week 2. Kansas City Chiefs tickets at Tennessee are moderately priced at $24 to get in, and averaging $114 a seat.
9/25/13 - The Kansas City Chiefs have started off this season right, standing 3-0 coming into Week 4, they are set to play the New York Giants with home field advantage at Arrowhead Stadium. Their defense is on fire, leading the league with 15 sacks through three games, and generating five turnovers last week. The Chief’s offense must improve their pass protection plays in addition to receivers creating more space down the field for Alex Smith if they want to stay solid in the AFC. With two of their wins away, and an advantageous schedule coming up, the Chiefs will be looking to dominate the Giants in Kansas City this Sunday.
Kansas City Chiefs 2014 Season
After a strong start to the season last year, Andy Reid and his Chiefs are met with an action-packed beginning in 2014. Kansas City Chiefs tickets are up 55 percent on the resale market and averaging $266. Following the release of the NFL schedule in 2013, prices over eight homes games were $119. Despite the bump, Chiefs tickets still run under the league average and are fairly priced for big time matchups. KC plays four playoff teams in their first six games including a road trip to Denver in Week 2 to face the defending AFC Champions. The Broncos visit to Arrowhead Stadium in late November is the most expensive game this season on the Kansas City Chiefs home schedule. The Week 14 Sunday night matchup is not the only prime time game on the Chiefs schedule; KC will take on the New England Patriots on Monday Night in Week 4 and the Oakland Raiders on Thursday Night in Week 12. While the game may not be nationally televised, a must-see is Chiefs QB Alex Smith making his return to San Francisco (avg. $457) in Week 5. Turn it up Chiefs Kingdom! We’re 100 days away from the start of the 2014 NFL Season
The Kansas City Chiefs had a very busy offseason. The Chiefs have a new Head Coach in Andy Reid, a new GM with John Dorsey and a new QB Alex Smith from the San Francisco 49ers. Also, for the first time in franchise history, the Kansas City Chiefs had the first overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft after finishing last season with a 2-14 record. The Chiefs selected OT Eric Fisher of Central Michigan. Another rookie to watch will be Travis Kelce, who looks to be the Chiefs third tight end on the depth chart behind Tony Moeaki and Anthony Fasano, but will contribute. Training camp starts in one month, and should mark the return of Moeaki from his injury.
The Kansas City Star reminded us that fifty years ago, the Chiefs found a home in Kansas City. The Dallas Texans made Kansas City their new home, selling just over 15,000 Chiefs season tickets by the start of their first season. KC Chiefs tickets today are the cheapest in the League, averaging $100 on the secondary market. Every game on the Chiefs schedule is averaging under $100 except the home opener Kansas City Chiefs vs. Dallas Cowboys (avg. $153) and Week 13 matchup Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos (avg. $109).
