Preseason games are being played, Fantasy Football drafts are getting scheduled and the NFL season is about to start. There’s been a fair amount of turnover since the 2015 season, with huge names like Calvin Johnson and Peyton Manning hanging up their cleats and the Rams moving back to Los Angeles. While teams like the Patriots and Panthers remain favorites to make it into playoffs, franchises like Jacksonville and Oakland are looking to crawl out of the basement and show that they can play as well. It’s doesn’t quite have the excitement of the regular season, but NFL preseason action is underway, meaning the start of the real thing is just around the corner. For NFL fans, the long offseason is finally over. The first week of the preseason featured 16 games from Aug. 11 to Aug. 14. Defending Super Bowl champion Denver got off to a good start, blanking Chicago 22-0. Reigning NFC champion Carolina Fell to Baltimore, 22-19 on the same night Baltimore native Michael Phelps won his 22nd Olympic gold medal. A full slate of preseason games are coming up in week two, including six games on Thursday, Aug. 18. The preseason wraps up Sept. 1.
