Wisconsin Badgers Football 2014 News and Updates

2/7/14 - The Wisconsin Badgers went 9-4 (6-2 Big Ten) under first-year coach Gary Anderson. The Badgers came close but failed to take the Big Ten Leaders title, earning a ticket to the Capital One Bowl instead, where they lost to South Carolina. Looking to improve upon their #21 ranking, aside from banking four 4-stars (including QB DH Gillins), Gary Andersen and company were focused on bolstering the WR and OL positions, after seniors Chris Borland, Ryan Groy, Jared Abbrederis, Jacob Pedersen, Beau Allen and Dezmen Southward’s departure. Five incoming WRs, including 4-star Dareian Watkins, will reinforce Wisconsin’s already strong offense, now highlighted by RB Melvin Gordon (projected to be the NCAAAF’s leading rusher) with the leave of partner in crime, James White, to the NFL. The Badgers now boast Super Bowl XLVIII’s winning quarterback, Russell Wilson, see how that inspiration will play out for Wisconsin Badgers football this year!

11/20/13 – No. 19 Wisconsin currently sits in second place in the division, one game behind Leaders Ohio State. This season, they’ve outscored opponents 365-140 and their only two losses were determined by a touchdown or less. If you ask Badgers fans, they’d say they should only have one loss to their record after a botched call cost them the game against ASU. Sixth in the country in rushing, seventh in points allowed against them. They are No. 12 in the FBS in total offense and No. 6 in total defense, proving that they are a well-balanced squad. Wisconsin will make its 25th appearance in a postseason bowl game; but first they’ll close the regular season against a No. 25 Minnesota on the road and Penn State for Senior Day at Camp Randall Stadium. A win over the Gophers would give the Badgers their first against a ranked opponent this season and greatly help their chances for a BCS bid.

8/23/13 - The Wisconsin Badgers football team is coming off three straight Big Ten Conference titles and Rose Bowl berths. While the Badgers would like to get back to the Rose Bowl again this season, they prefer it’d be January 6 for the BCS National Championship game.

Wisconsin Badgers Football

The biggest test for Wisconsin will come on the road against Big Ten foe Ohio State Buckeyes. This marquee matchup has been a nail biter the last two years. Ohio State has the longest active win streak in the Country; last year the Wisconsin Badgers came so close to breaking that streak. The Buckeyes pulled out a 21-14 win in OT. New coach Gary Anderson can certainly make his mark with a win over Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes in Columbus. The Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Wisconsin Badgers matchup is the most expensive game at Ohio Stadium in 2013, averaging $342.

Despite the fact that the Badgers will play both Big Ten rivalry games on the road this year, Wisconsin has fallen out of the Top 10 College Football road teams. Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Wisconsin Badgers tickets start at $94; you can get in the gate for half that price in Minneapolis where Minnesota Golden Gophers vs. Wisconsin Badgers tickets start at $48.

Wisconsin Badgers football tickets at Camp Randall Stadium average $89. The Badgers rank #23 in the USA Today preseason Coaches’ Poll, but hold just the 42nd priciest College Football tickets. For Wisconsin fans that is one of the best deals in NCAA Football. The most expensive game in Madison this season is against the Northwestern Wildcats Football team (avg. $137); aside from the Buckeyes, the Wildcats are the only other currently ranked football team on the Wisconsin Badgers football schedule.
