Washington Huskies Football 2014 News and Updates

2/7/14 - Last year, the Washington Huskies just made the top 25 ranking, with a 9-4 record (5-4 Pac-12) and a Fight Hunger Bowl victory over BYU to cap it all off. In December, Steve Sarkisian abruptly resigned as head coach in favor of the open position at USC; this year, Chris Petersen (Boise State) will take his spot, toting new offensive and defensive coordinators. Less than two months since being hired, Petersen and staff were able to secure the best possible outcome for their 2014 recruiting class: six of the state’s top players signed, including 4-stars Budda Baker and Kaleb McGary. They join QB K.J. Carta-Samuels, 4-star Naijiel Hale, and Will Dissly. Following National Signing Day, Huskies QB Cyler Miles and WR Damore’ea Stringfellow were suspended indefinitely on alleged assault that Washington fans hope clear up before spring training. See what new HC Petersen can do with his inaugural Washington Huskies class!

2013 Season

11/20/13 – Washington started the season strong, winning four in a row including the season opener against No. 19 Boise State at Husky Stadium. Since, the Huskies are 2-4; and although the losses have been to quality conference foes, a bowl invite is uncertain despite having six wins to their name. Washington also lost their star QB Keith Price to a shoulder injury; his return to the football field is still unknown. The program finishes their regular season with Oregon State and intrastate rival Washington State in one of the top College Football rivalry games. Tickets to attend The Apple Cup start at $84, down $13 since yesterday.

Coach Steve Sarkisian is opting for an up-tempo, no-huddle offense this season which will be led by quarterback Keith Price. The Huskies are aiming higher than their predicted fourth place Pac-12 North finish. Should Price return to 2011 form and the team can settle into the quick offensive play, Washington football has a chance to do just that. >

Conference play in Seattle begins at the end of September against the Arizona Wildcats and will conclude Thanksgiving weekend versus rival Washington State Cougars. Washington Huskies vs. Washington State Cougars tickets are averaging $167. The second most expensive game to be played on Washington soil is Washington Huskies vs. #3 Oregon Ducks mid-October in what looks to be the toughest game on the Huskies schedule. Tickets for the Pac-12 North matchup start at $82 and average $223. Washington Huskies tickets for the 2013 season average $138 over seven home games.
