USC Trojans Football 2014 News and Updates

4/22/14 – New coach Steve Sarkisian announced that Cody Kessler would be the starting quarterback for the USC Trojans this season. The RS Junior finished with 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions last fall and will lead the storied program in a hurry-up, no-huddle style of offense. Sarkisian is familiar with the Pac-12 foes, previously coaching with both Pete Carroll and Lane Kiffin at USC and then taking the reins at Washington for five years. Four conference opponents will visit the Los Angeles Coliseum this season, in addition to non-conference rival Notre Dame. Grab your USC Trojans football tickets now and watch what twist Sarkisian has put on the offense as well as how the ten redshirt freshman will stack up in the 2014 campaign!

2/4/14 - The Trojans certainly had a winning season: finishing 10-4 (6-3 Pac 12), tying for second in the division, defeating Fresno State in the Las Vegas Bowl and ultimately ranking #19 in the nation. The USC Trojans sent off WR Marqise Lee (projected first-round pick) and center Marcus Martin to the NFL Draft. The Trojans only have 15 commitments, but about half is comprised of four-star talents (including OG Viane Talamaivao), and USC is projected to make big moves come National Signing Day: with top recruits Damien Mama, Adoree Jackson and John “Juju” Smith considering the SoCal private school (as well as city rival UCLA). Former Huskies HC Steve Sarkisian should provide the team some much-needed stability since the dismissal of Lane Kiffin early in the 2013 season. Keep your eyes on USC, especially during the upcoming signing-day showdown!

2013 Season

11/6/13- After their 31-14 crushing of Oregon State over the weekend, SC moves on to play Cal on the road, another viable victory, which will give the Trojans some ownership of the Pac-12 South Title. As long as they muster one win in their last four games, USC will be bowl eligible! (For now, the Trojans are projected to enter the Las Vegas Bowl.) In their last game of the season, the Trojans are pitted against cross-city rivals, UCLA, who are also trailing Arizona for the leadership in the division—tickets for the always sold-out match start at $93 and go as high as $681. With a possible three-way tie on the horizon, things sure are heating up in the Pac-12 South!

USC Trojans Football

The biggest changes to the USC Football program are their future schedule and stadium. The Trojans will fight on against Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football and BYU, extending their series through 2023 with the Fighting Irish and adding a three-game series for the 2019, 2021, and 2023 seasons with the Cougars. In addition, USC will renovate the Los Angeles Coliseum which hosted the 1932 and 1984 Summer Olympics and has been the Trojan’s home since 1923.

As for 2013, the USC Trojan Football team is looking to rebound from last year and prove that they are still an elite program. The USC Football roster boasts great potential with top freshmen recruits and talent including WR Marqise Lee who was named Sporting News #2 player in College Football. The question mark remains on the Trojans defense — USC lost first-team All-Conference performers in safety T.J. McDonald and cornerback Nickell Robey to the NFL. It will be up to Freshman Defensive Player of the Year Dion Bailey (who was recently moved to Safety by Coach Lane Kiffin) and Linebackers Hayes Pullard and Devon Kennard to lead the group of youngsters. The Trojans roster will also miss former starting QB Matt Barkley who was lost to the NFL Draft as well. The Trojan football team will first be tested in Hawaii, where USC will play former Coach Norm Chow and his team, Hawaii Warriors Football. Tickets to the Trojan's first road game are averaging $140, the most expensive game on the Warriors schedule.

USC will open the season at the Los Angeles Coliseum against Pac-12 opponent, Washington State Cougars. Five of the Trojans seven home games will be played against teams in the Conference. The most expensive games on the USC football schedule will come in the latter half, Stanford Cardinal vs. USC Trojans Football tickets are averaging $149 while the cross-town rivalry between UCLA Bruins and USC is averaging $198. UCLA vs. USC tickets are the most expensive on the USC Trojans schedule. Last year, the Bruins defeated the Trojans for the first time in six years. Despite the rise of the UCLA football program, the USC Trojans still have the most expensive Collegiate program in Los Angeles. USC game tickets cost an average of $116, just $1 more than the NCAA Football national average. Last season, USC football tickets were one of the top 10 most expensive tickets in College Football.
