UCLA Bruins Football 2015 News and Updates
12/12/14 - They were a team who, at one point this season, were in the conversation as a potential playoff team. But after an unexpected loss to Stanford, the UCLA Bruins will head to San Antonio, Texas, for the Alamo Bowl, where they will face Kansas State of the Big XII on January 2.
12/5/14 - Unlike some teams who the pundits are not sure who will be playing in which bowl, but there is clarity where the UCLA Bruins are concerned. Predictions seem to favor the Bruins as a participant in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, on January 2.
11/14/14 - The UCLA Bruins are off this weekend, which gives them extra time to prepare for their annual rivalry game with USC to determine the best college football team in Los Angeles. Since a shock upset by Utah and a loss to Pac-12 North power Oregon, the Bruins have reeled off four straight wins, but will need some help if they hope to make the conference championship.
11/7/14 - Last Saturday, the UCLA Bruins took on the Arizona Wildcats. It was a close game, but when the final whistle blew, the Bruins were on top. The final score ended up being 17-7, and a huge reason for their success was because of their quarterback, Brett Hundley. He ended up throwing for 189 yards and had 1 touchdown. Another reason why they came out with the victory was because of their rushing attack from Hundley. He scrambled his way to first downs, keeping Arizona on their toes for the entire game. Hundley will need to keep up this dynamic play if the UCLA Bruins want to do big things through their playoff push. Up next for the Bruins is an important match up with Washington. It should be a great game, and Washington will surely be looking to play spoiler. Tickets for the game can be purchased now, which are starting out at an affordable $23.
10/30/14 - After dropping games at the beginning of the month, the UCLA Bruins have bounced back with a pair of close victories, defeating Cal by two and needing double overtime to survive Colorado. Next for the Bruins is a home date at the Rose Bowl with high-flying Arizona.
9/24/14 - The time has come for the UCLA Bruins (#11 AP/#10 USA Today) to find out what they’re really made of, as they head to Tempe for their first Pac-12 game of the year against #15 (AP) Arizona State, also 3-0 overall and already with one conference win under their belt. Quarterback Brett Hundley will have to be near the top of his game for the Bruins to have any success; as a team the Bruins are 32nd in the nation in passing offense, averaging 288 yards per game. The defense will have to step up as well; in terms of points allowed, the Bruins are allowing an average of 24 points per game, 60th in the nation so far this year.
9/16/14 - The month of September isn’t even in the books, and already the UCLA Bruins are facing a key conference matchup. This weekend, the No. 12 (AP/media)/No. 10 (USA Today/coaches) ranked Bruins will head to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. to take on Arizona State, in a game which will have implications not only within the Pac-12 Conference, but potentially nationally as well. ASU is also ranked (No. 15 in the AP, No. 13 in the USA Today), and undefeated, with wins over FCS Weber State; and New Mexico. However, the Sun Devils will be without their starting quarterback, senior Taylor Kelly; replacing him will be another senior, Mike Bercovici. Bruins starting QB Brett Hundley left early in their win over Texas, but is expected to be in the starting lineup this weekend for the game against ASU.
7/30/14 – The countdown ‘til college football continues, and UCLA Bruins Football is 30 days away from their first game of the year. "All-in" head coach Jim Mora, alongside Brett Hundley and Eric Kendricks, addressed hundreds of media personnel who picked them to win the Pac-12 South Division—by a landslide—at the conference's media days. In the poll, UCLA was favored 37 votes to 2, the same as Pac-12 North favorites, the Oregon Ducks. Practice may start this Monday, but fans are eagerly awaiting the start of this momentous season and first game. Score UCLA Bruins Football tickets for their Week 1 matchup on the road against the Virginia Cavaliers, and say you were bleeding Blue and Gold from the beginning!
7/9/14 – The UCLA Bruins will kick off their preseason camp in no more than four weeks! The squad will return to campus on Aug 18 to commence regular season practice and gear up for their big opener against the Virginia Cavaliers on Aug 30. This year the Bruins face one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the Pac-12, so it’s imperative they kick off September on a good note. Be there when the Bruin Revolution gets going on the road, at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, for a minimum of $35 (8/30). Want to cheer on the Blue and Gold at home? UCLA Bruins Football tickets for their Sept 16 home opener are priced cheaper; get-in for $14 when the team takes on the Memphis Tigers at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
6/20/14 – ESPN selected the most important player on each team, excluding the quarterback position, and for UCLA Bruins Football, linebacker Eric Kendricks is considered chief playmaker. He’s been one of the most productive tacklers in the league, even when pro baller Anthony Barr was on the field. He’ll be backed up by Jim Mora’s latest recruits: two 5-stars, two 4-stars and two 3-stars. If you aren’t excited yet for the UCLA vs. USC (Nov 22) game, then maybe this news will rev you up: Las Vegas ranked UCLA higher than USC in odds of making the first-ever college football playoffs, with the 8th-best shot. See if the Blue & Gold can make the odds with UCLA Bruins tickets!
5/27/14 – Third-year head coach Jim Mora has brought UCLA back to prominence and behind touted Heisman Trophy candidate QB Brett Hundley, the Bruins are a top 10 team! The Pac-12 Networks documentary series The Drive: Pac-12 Football will follow the UCLA Bruins football team “Hard Knocks” style. Get the inside on the team via the hit show but make sure to catch the UCLA Bruins live on Saturdays with UCLA Bruins football tickets! No surprise here: the most in-demand games at the Rose Bowl this year will be played against rivals USC (avg. $296) and Oregon (avg. $241) – both teams are among Sporting News’ preseason top 25. The only non-conference game this season in Los Angeles will be played against the Memphis Tigers (avg. $87); in fact it’s the only UCLA home game in the month of September. Mora and Co. will be on the road for the highly-anticipated game at Cowboys Stadium followed by a tough road game in Tempe. UCLA vs Texas tickets (avg. $870) are the most expensive tickets in NCAA College Football this year but prices are as low as $132.
4/23/14 – The Bruins get ready for their Spring Showcase Saturday in Carson where all eyes will be on Heisman Trophy candidate Brett Hundley. After the quarterback decided to return for his junior season, UCLA was projected as a pre-season Top 10 team. While the loss of Anthony Barr will sting defensively, the UCLA Bruins football roster is stacked including one star athlete, Myles Jack, who plays both sides of the field. Last year’s Pac-12 freshman offensive and defensive player of the year rushed for 267 yards and seven touchdowns. The 2014 UCLA Bruins schedule is highlighted by a non-conference game at AT&T Stadium against the Texas Longhorns and five Pac-12 matchups at the Rose Bowl: Utah, Oregon, Arizona, crosstown rival USC, and Stanford. Of the Bruins six home opponents, four played in bowl games in 2013.
2/6/14 - Second year coach Jim Mora keeps doin’ big things! UCLA picked up a 10-3 record (6-3 Pac 12) and looked like they were headed to the Pac 12 Championship for the third straight year but the Bruins missed out in the tight Pac-12 South race to rivals Arizona State. Instead they won tickets to the Sun Bowl and finished with a win over Virginia Tech and a #16 finish—a significant jump up from their #21 preseason ranking. Along with Mora’s refusal of the head job at Texas, speculation of QB Brett Hundley leaving Westwood early for the draft muted when he declared his intent to return early in January. So, this year the Bruins will only be filling holes left by coveted players OL Xavier Su’a-Filo, super-athletic LB Anthony Barr, and Jordan Zumwalt. Though Mora missed out on some enviable prospects (bagging 1 out of 9 targets) on National Signing Day, the Bruins still landed a top ranked class. The 18 commits are headlined by 4-star LB Kenny Young, Jaleel Wadood and Zach Whitley who will join Myles Jack and Eric Kendricks on the defense. Get excited, Bruins Nation, because these boys are definitely Pac-12 title contenders!
11/1/13 – The Bruins of Westwood are coming off two straight Pac-12 road losses to top ranked teams in Stanford and Oregon. Still in the top 25, they’ll look to rebound Saturday at the Rose Bowl against Colorado on Homecoming night in their second Pac-12 South game. After that, UCLA will hit the road for a game in Tucson before heading home for “Friday Night Lights” against Washington in which they’ll unveil new black alternate uniforms. The final two games on the UCLA football schedule will likely determine whether or not the Bruins will play in their third consecutive Pac-12 Championship game as they’ll play current South leader, Arizona State Sun Devils, and hated rival rival USC Trojans who has the same Conference record as the UCLA Bruins to date. UCLA vs. Arizona State football tickets have the priciest get-in of the remaining three games at home at $43 for a corner end zone seat.
UCLA Bruins Football 2015 Season
Expectations for the UCLA Bruins have not been this high since the mid-Eighties days of coach Terry Donahue, when the Bruins won three Rose Bowls in four years. Head coach Jim Mora, in his second season, has made the Bruins into perennial Pac-12 South contenders, with Brett Hundley returning to the controls for one more season. In addition to the annual Victory Bell contest with city rival Southern California (which UCLA has won both times under Mora), the Bruins will also host national power Oregon, and take on Texas at a neutral-site game.
UCLA exceeded expectations last season under first-year head coach Jim Mora, winning the Pac-12 South and finishing the season 9-5. In 2013, the Bruins look to take the next step to becoming an elite program and play a bowl game in their home stadium for the first time since 1999. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Brett Hundley showed flashes of greatness last year and should be considered among the top quarterbacks in the nation by the end of this season. The Bruins are led on defense by senior linebacker Anthony Barr, who despite playing only his second year at the position, is expected to be a top ten pick in the 2014 NFL draft. Average price for UCLA football tickets at the Rose Bowl this season is $113, fourth highest in the Pac-12.
The Bruins 2013 season opener comes on 8/31 against Nevada and has an average price of $98. After the Bruins dominated rival USC Trojans at home last season, this year’s cross-town rivalry will be held at the Coliseum on 11/30 and USC vs. UCLA tickets are averaging $198. UCLA will have a more difficult road test against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on 9/14, after also defeating them in Pasadena last season. Nebraska vs. UCLA football tickets for the rematch are averaging $252. The most expensive game at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena this season is the home finale against the Arizona State Sun Devils, with an average ASU vs. UCLA Bruins tickets price of $137. At $81, the 9/12 game against New Mexico State is the least expensive home game on the 2013 UCLA football schedule. UCLA's least expensive game overall is their matchup in Palo Alto against defending Pac-12 Champion Stanford Cardinal, with an average Stanford vs. UCLA football tickets price of $72.
