Tennessee Volunteers Football 2014 News and Updates

2/4/14 - The Tennessee Volunteers are arguably the most talked about team heading into National Signing Day. Coach Butch Jones vaunts one of the biggest classes in the country, and one that is ranked No. 2 in the nation—just behind SEC rival Alabama. This overhaul spurned from last year’s down season (5-7), marking the Vols’ fourth consecutive losing record. Recently, star OT Antonio “Tiny” Richardson announced his entrance into the NFL Draft, meaning UT will have to replace their entire front five (with Ja’Wuan James, Zach Fulton, James Stone and Alex Bullard departing). The Vols will welcome 34 commits, but remain as the only team in the top 10 without a five-star player. Still, Tennessee does have 17 4-star athletes, which is the most in the country. With so much fresh talent revamping the University, this year is already brimming with optimism—don’t sleep on the Vols this season!

2013 Season

11/5/13- The Tennessee Vols are still bowl-hopefuls, despite coming off of dreadful blowout loss against Missouri (3-31), in which UT’s caving defense allowed the Tigers to rack up over 300 rushing yards. With a 4-5 record, every game for the Vols is now a must-win, and first up is a tall order: the opportunity to generate a major upset victory over Auburn this Saturday. Tickets start at $76 in the Upper Level and shoot up to $245 for Terrace seats. Looking to the future, Vols fans can rejoice in the recent announcement that Evan and Elliot Berry (younger twin brothers of Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry) have committed to Tennessee for next year, two prospects UT faithfuls have been drooling over for years.

Tennessee Volunteers Football

Tennessee finished last season at 5-7 and missed out on a bowl game for the second straight year. After failing to meet expectations, coach Derek Dooley was fired and replaced by Cincinnati coach Butch Jones. Following the departure of quarterback Tyler Bray and several other offensive playmakers, the Volunteers will rely heavily on their top offensive line against the suffocating defenses of the SEC. The Volunteer defense, which was one of the worst in the NCAA last season, will need to improve for Tennessee to stay competitive and become bowl eligible this season. The average price for Tennessee Volunteers football tickets this season is $119, 23rd highest in the NCAA and 10th in the SEC.
