All game the two teams went back and forth, never giving either team the lead for long. The Sooners had the opportunity to tie it up for a final time in the fourth quarter by kicking in an extra point, which was blocked by one of Kansas State’s defenders. Trailing by one point, the Sooner had a second chance to take the lead. Driving the ball to the one-yard line, the Sooners weren’t able to punch it in leaving it all up to their kicker. 6/20/14 – The Crimson and Cream certainly have something great to celebrate. ESPN has released their top positions from each school over the last decade, and Oklahoma Sooners Football has been proclaimed “Quarterback U.” Arguably the most important squad on the gridiron, Oklahoma has scored eight awards since 2010 for their signal-callers—including a pair of Heisman Trophies (Jason White, Sam Bradford). Other notables like Josh Heupel and Landry Jones display the Sooners’, manned by Bob Stoops, ability to recognize and develop talent like no other school. Oklahoma placed second in “Running Back U” standings. Get Oklahoma Sooners tickets now to see how they fine-tune their talent under center!
5/20/14 – According to Sporting News, the Sooners are the team to beat this year! Trevor Knight graced the cover, a photo from the Sugar Bowl in which he completed 32 of 44 passes for 348 yards and four touchdowns against 2013 favorites Alabama. OU will have to get past Big 12 foes Kansas State, Baylor, Kansas, and Oklahoma State at Memorial Stadium and West Virginia, TCU, Iowa State, and Texas Tech on the road. The highlight on the Oklahoma Sooners football schedule is a trip to Dallas where they’ll take on the Texas Longhorns in the annual Red River Rivalry game at Cotton Bowl Stadium. Sooners tickets at Memorial Stadium are reasonably priced to watch the favorites this season, averaging $168. The most popular games based on OU ticket prices are vs. Tennessee (avg. $212) and Oklahoma State (avg. $237).
5/8/14 - Oklahoma’s Red-White spring scrimmage on April 12, held in front of a crowd of over 43,000 – the largest crowd for the Sooners’ spring game since head coach Bob Stoops took the controls of the Sooner Schooner – was won by the White squad, who scored in each quarter en route to a 28-13 final score. All of the scoring was by players who, all combined, had none last season. Sophomore quarterback Baker Mayfield had a perfect day as the White team’s signal-caller, completing all nine of his pass attempts for 125 yards and two scores, to receivers Taylor McNamara and Jordan Smallwood; McNamara also hauled in a toss from Cody Thomas to give himself a pair of receiving scores. Daniel Brooks was the top Sooner rusher, carrying the ball eight times for 67 yards.
2/6/14 - The Oklahoma Sooners had another stellar season for the books last year. After going 11-2 (7-2 Big 12), they received an at-large bid to appear in the Sugar Bowl, where they took down titans, the Alabama Crimson Tide (45-61), to finish on a high note. This year, former QB Blake Bell has decided to move to tight end, which peacefully clears the way for Trevor Knight to take full control under center. Additionally, OU landed new recruit 4-star Justice Hansen, a promising young QB for added depth. The Sooners bid farewell to superstar RB Brandon Clay for the NFL Draft, but OU is still pretty well stocked at the position, with the likes of Keith Ford, Alex Ross and 5-star recruit Joe Mixon. Unfortunately, Aaron Colvin, the fourth-best cornerback prospect in the 2014 NFL Draft from OU, tore his ACL at Senior Bowl practice. Colvin is still optimistic of his Draft chances, after all, no other Big 12 program has produced more NFL Draft picks over the last five tears than OU, so keep an eye out and watch your Sooners do big things in college and the pros this year!
10/29/13 – The Sooners are coming off their biggest win of the season thus far, knocking off the previously undefeated Texas Tech Red Raiders. Oklahoma moved to No. 12 in the BCS standings and like the Red Raiders, are now 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the Conference. Another tough test is ahead; the Sooners travel to Waco, Texas next Thursday to face the #6 Baylor Bears who are currently 7-0 and first in the Big 12. Oklahoma will look to stop Baylor’s big plays and continue to do what they do best, and that is run the football. Oklahoma has just one remaining home game; that is, against Iowa State (11/17). Oklahoma Sooners vs. Iowa State Cyclones Football tickets start at just $34.
Oklahoma Sooners Football 2015 Season
Under the direction of head coach Bob Stoops, the Oklahoma Sooners have maintained a level of excellence unmatched in the school’s long history of football. Stoops took over the Sooners before the 1999 season, and the Sooners have gone to a bowl game of some kind in every year of his head coaching tenure, including a pair of national-championship contests (he’s won one and lost one). In addition to the Big XII schedule – in which Oklahoma hosts Baylor, Kansas State, and the “Bedlam” rivalry game with Oklahoma State – the 2014 lineup of opponents includes a visit from Tennessee of the Southeastern Conference.
In 2013 Coach Stoops will become the winningest coach in Oklahoma football history. But the two-time Walter Camp Coach of the Year and his Oklahoma Sooners team are solely focused on a National Championship. Their last appearance was in 2008 vs. the Florida Gators. The Sooners continue to be in the race but big losses late in the season have cost them greatly.
CBS Sports revealed that the Sooners have the toughest non-conference schedule in the nation this year which includes at Notre Dame (avg. $567), one of three teams they have lost to in Norman in the last two seasons. Oklahoma is the only powerhouse in the Top 5 on the list, as most elite programs prefer to get wins over strength of schedule. The Sooners football schedule does not get any easier, Big 12 conference games against Oklahoma State Cowboys Football in the Bedlam Series (avg. $300) and Texas Longhorns Football in the Red River Rivalry Game (avg. $446) will both be played on the road. Oklahoma football tickets on the road are averaging $340, more than double the price of the average ticket at Memorial Stadium ($151) this season.
Games on Oklahoma Sooners home schedule that are in high demand: Texas Christian Horned Frogs Football vs. Oklahoma Sooners Football (avg. $198) and West Virginia Mountaineers Football vs. Oklahoma Sooners Football (avg. $179). Both games last year were close; the Sooners defeated the Mountaineers by one point, the Horned Frogs by seven.
