Ready to do some more damage in the ACC this year, Hurricanes’ fourth year coach Al Golden landed his best recruiting class in his tenure! Miami would need it, with the departure of senior QB Stephen Morris and RB Duke Johnson to the NFL Draft. Golden pulled the second best class in the ACC (just behind Florida State) with 26 players. 2013 Season

11/18/13 – After starting the season 7-0 and climbing to No. 7 in the standings, the Hurricanes have lost three straight. Their loss to Duke Saturday gave the Blue Devils control over the Coastal Division. In late October is was announced that the Canes will not face any additional bowl bans, clearing Miami to participate in the postseason this year. But, in a season that had Orange Bowl aspirations, Miami is more focused on ending their frustrating 2013 campaign on a positive note with improvement against Virginia and Pitt. Saturday’s game against the Cavaliers will be the Hurricanes quarterback Stephen Morris’ last game at SunLife Stadium, as it will be for all Miami’s seniors. Tickets for Senior Day start at $5.

Miami Hurricanes Football 2014 Season

Miami Hurricanes Football is your favorite to win the Coastal Division and appear in the ACC championship game in Charlotte. This top ranking is certainly not unfounded: the ‘Canes win total has increased each year in the Al Golden era, and their upcoming slate of schedule looks promising. Your starting quarterback Ryan Williams is out indefinitely, still recovering from ACL surgery, so the competition to replace Stephen Morris has between Jake Heaps and Brad Kaaya in the offseason. Fourteen of Miami’s 24 starters return to the gridiron in 2014, including Duke Johnson, Stacy Coley, Denzel Perryman and Anthony Chickillo. After last year’s crushing loss to FSU, the ‘Canes spiraled downward, losing to Virginia tech and Duke before picking themselves back up with victories over Virginia and Pittsburgh. Their 9-3 record punched them a ticket to the Russell Athletic Bowl against Louisville, but they’ll have to do even better if they hope to enter the very first College Football Playoffs!

2013 Season

Despite qualifying for the ACC Championship game last year with a win over Duke in the final regular season game, the Miami Hurricanes football program did not play for the title against rival Florida State. The young squad hoped that by taking themselves out of bowls for two straight years, they’d eliminate any further penalties from the NCAA. There has been no official word on whether the Hurricanes will be allowed to play in the postseason this year.

The Canes are one of the favorites to win the Coastal Division this year but the squad will need their defense to step up. Many will look to Veteran Anthony Chickillo, Miami’s sack leader last year, to lead the team. One of the toughest games on the Canes schedule will be played in Week 2 against the Florida Gators. At an average ticket price of $228 (up $24 in the last two weeks), the Florida Gators vs. Miami Hurricanes game is the most expensive at Sun Life Stadium in 2013.

Conference play begins in October and the most challenging games will come on the road. Al Golden and his team will head to Tallahassee in early November to play the Seminoles (avg. $158) in the most expensive road game of the season. ACC foes that will make the trip to Coral Gables include: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Wake Forest Deacons, Virginia Tech Hokies, and Virginia Cavaliers.
